Actually quite easy, the very fact that it is just 100 miles off the coast, is its biggest weakness. China could just pound it for weeks and enforce a brutal naval blockade, and then land troops when it feels it has sufficiently degraded their forces.

The Yanks will not intervene, table top exercises have concluded that China wins every time, and with every year the PLA grows stronger.

The US always overestimates its adversaries. You should understand that by this point. I'd take those exercises with a huge grain of salt. The US military is extremely capable. Underestimate at your own risk.

U.S. Indo-Pacific Command has sent Congress a new $76 billion, five-year plan to fund a vast range of missile defense systems, long-range precision weapons, and the building and upgrade of airfields across the Pacific.

I disagree. They learned, harshly. But their problem is that they are EMOTIONALLY INVESTED into both Russia and China, so when one fail, the capabilities of the other are in serious doubt. So when they are so emotionally invested, they have no choice but to talk up the remaining one -- China. And talking up is what we are seeing now. They have to talk of war as if it is a video game because that is all they know. They do not know what it is like to feel the recoil of a rifle or the g-force of an airplane. They have never been under life or death stress. Because they have so little real life experience, they have to treat the Taiwanese as things, not as human beings, in order to talk up China. The worse things get for Russia in Ukraine, the more talking up for China we will see.

Here is some more professional military knowledge for you! There is military unit call coastal anti-ship missile force.. PLAN finish, upgraded all missiles to 400km range YJ-62 a few years ago. Nothing will leave or enter the taiwan on the sea!
