I'm almost certain that both the mother and daughter are UK citizens and living in the UK so the laws of the UK apply to them.

Mohammad Asif, Salman Butt and M. Amir were not British citizens. Still British law applied to them because they committed crime in British and Pakistani courts had no jurisdiction over them, even when they came to pakistan for holidays. So shhuussshhh

This whole thing has nothing to do with Christianity or Islam (if it had, the poor girl would never be in condition that she is in), having an English or Arabic name does not make one a Muslim and/or Christian. There is nothing religious in whole sorry saga.

About forced marriage, this is common but i believe it is lot less now.

It is part of pak backward culture but it does have its reasons it could be inheritance, financial or family blackmail rishta.

I am thinking with a proper Islamic education "forced marriages" will be exterminated.

Many girls from our community met such dreadful fates. Times have changed a great deal but you still have cases like this.
