UK to send Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine, Rishi Sunak confirms

LOL, show me a picture of a Merkava in Lebanon with Trophy

Targeted dozens of Merkavas? Hahahaha, you prove that with some random Iranian blog?
"According to sources within the Palestinian fighters in Gaza" those 0 IQ monkeys probably don't understand their missiles got blown up 10 meters away from the tank.

What do you mean IDF doesn't dare to use MBTs in its frontlines? What frontline does the IDF not have tanks in? besides West Bank which doesn't need any?

Drozd is garbage that didn't work, Russians don't have a fielded APS 50 years after the Drozd, Israel developed the first real working APS, and the fact Germany, UK, US, Netherlands, Sweden, Australia etc are all buying our APS systems shows its superiority.
Enjoy watching

It is like me asking you to show me pictures of Iraqi T72s from war times. Israeli tanks had the stolen technology since years before Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

So? Truth is, IDF couldn't advance an inch into Palestinian territories due to serious blows that Israeli ground fprces received from both Hezbollah and Palestinians. Israeli armored vehicles failed to advance, that's the ground reality.

Yeah, like some of Chinese memebrs of this forum claiming that Sukhois products are garbages and their own copies are far superior than whole Russian air force.

According to OSINT, USA upgraded and tested new versions of former Trophies of IDF developed prior 2006 war wirh Hezbollah by Israeli defense industries derived from stolen Drozd technology.

Merkava didn't "lose", 5 Israeli tanks were destroyed in that war, 2006 war lasted 34 days, by that time Russia already had 500 tanks destroyed

Yeah Lebanon is a very mountainous and hard terrain for tanks. Hezbollah has made a ton of ambushes. But in reality they didn't halt the Israeli army, and Israeli casualties when compared to Hezbollah were insignificant.
5 looool OK

And 500 you got those figures from the the great Jeffrey Epstein and gissaline Maxwell but they are the number of under age girls abused by mossad for entrapment world leaders in the last year not Russian tanks

@Beny Karachun why laugh its true isnt it. Like your rapist friend in india your biggest achievement is sex trafficking and ofcourse being nazis in Palestine where your father's moved and rebranded as Israelis.

Why not ? The Challenger 2 and Leopards 2's are broadly considered to be peers. The only country right now that can design a tank better than the UK is the USA. The UK/France/Germany will broadly come up with similar solutions. The UK got out of making tanks as it was not 'profitable enough' for them.

The chinese are still making Russian knock offs that will have the same "flying turrent" syndrome that we have seen in Ukraine as they all have the same design flaw - ie the autoloader..
Challenger 2 is about the level of older, no-longer-produced Chinese tanks. That's why Challenger 2 is extinct. LOL.

. . . . .
the world will get to see how the three main western tanks size up against Russian non-export class tanks fare against each other

It wont be an apples to apples comparison as the Ukranian crews wont be experts in the Challengers, Abrahams, Leopards - but will only have basic training to make the proficient. That is why the initial numbers will be so low - the crew need to be trained up.

Nearly a year into the war, it could be the most proficient and experienced tankers, still living, that get the opportunity to transition to western tanks. Also, a year in, the most proficient Russian tankers may have been KIA/WIA and less well trained crews could be on the frontline. We never know.

650 M1A1 SA, 1,605 M1A2 SEPv2 and 390 M1A2 SEPv3 are in active US service.
3,450 M1A1/A2 are in storage (mostly in good condition).
Abrams jet engine needs hundreds of gallons of fuel to operate.
It will burn through fuel at a rate of at least 4.7 litres per kilometre, whether the tank is moving or idling, which means a constant supply convoy of fuel trucks must stay within reach so it can keep moving forward. The fuel demands would create a logistical nightmare for Ukrainian forces. While an Abrams can storm through the snow and mud, fuel trucks can't.
In addition, like any jet engine, the Abrams turbine needs air to breathe, which it sucks in through filtered rear vents. When those vent filters get clogged – whether by sand, as soldiers reported to GAO in 1992, or by debris they might encounter in Ukraine – they can't perform.
Abrams tank is a very complicated piece of equipment. It’s expensive, it’s hard to train on. It is not the easiest system to maintain. It may or may not be the right system. The Abrams also will require months of training. Ukrainian forces will have to learn how to operate its more complex systems, and how to keep it running and fueled.

Nope, RPG cannot stop challenger-2. The floor armour thickness of chellenger-2 is almost 16 mm according to OSINT. RPG is a joke compared to armour of this tank.

Please educate yourself about penetrating power of guided and unguided anti tank weapons.

@Beny Karachun was boasting about Trophy systems of Merkavas, this tank is the most overrated MBT that sometimes people think it is undisputed. I showed him anti tank missiles of Hezbollah could easily go through that active protection system without being countered and they could easily target Merkavas.

About MBT VS MBT on the battlefield, no one can claim that which tank can kill the other tank, it depends on the level of protection of each tank. As a basic principle, whichever MBT observes/sees the opponent is the winner of battle. Moreover a better crew can change the fate of every battle.
Bro,the Merkava thing is a big discussion. The Trophy has worked well. The are armor differences though between the Merkava Mk III and Mk IV. Personally I prefer the Mk III.

As for the Challenger...it can protect against RPGs easily. The Russians though, are probably going to use much heavier weapons.

They fix most of the problems especially the fuel. They put an APU on it to reduce fuel consumption while idle. Its not hard to train on considering its for young troops to learn and fight in.
