What's new

UK launches new 'points based immigration system'.

I guess he meant the typical profile of an immigrant. India seems to have a large number (10s-100s of millions) of people who can speak a working level of English, have some kind of degree --I am not commenting on its quality of education--, willingness to immigrate to UK.

Unless UK applies a per-country cap or a hard over all cap, I think this is exactly whats gonna happen.
Seriously are people like you completely insane?

What was the point of Brexit?

99% of brexiteers wanted one thing - control over and caps on immigration.

Now if you're truly suggesting that uncontrolled European immigration will simply be replaced by uncontrolled non-European immigration - regardless of education levels - you've got another think coming.

People in Britain were fundamentally fed up of total and utter full beyond capacity public services and social security. Folks don't care what the "education level" is of the non-Brit blocking him from getting an appointment slot at the GP.

Boris will handle things fine. Don't worry.

.
BoJo and Priti Patel seems to want to widen the door for immigration from India in particular.
You will see immigration from India at least double with this change.
BoJo is due in India at some point begging for a trade treaty post Brexit. He believes trade with China and India will replace the loss of Europe but both these countries are going to extract maximum benefit from Brexit.

With the rise of the Alt-Right and White nationalism in the UK, that will never happen. There will be a HUGE Public backlash. The WHOLE point of Brexit was to massively reduce immigration. The British put up with EU immigration for a long time because they were immigrants who were all White European Christians. If there is an influx of indians or any other non-Whites, it will be the death of the Conservative Party and the rise of Right Wing Parties. There has been a huge clamp-down on immigration from outside the EU into Britain since 2010. Besides, the trade deals the UK is going to sign with the EU members is going to keep pretty much everything the same as it is now. The EU still needs Britain because of their ability to invent and pioneer all the advanced technologies and sciences of the world and sell it to them on reduced prices/tariffs.

. . .
Be critical or be upset at the UK’s new enhanced point based system.. it’s all good..it’s in their interest.

That will IN FACT benefit the EU citizens as they tend to be more educated and highly skilled compared to citizens from outside of the EU. A lot doctors, dentists, engineers etc are from the EU. My GP is Lithuanian. She is the best doctor I have ever had.

The Lithuanians, Poles, Czechs etc are way more educated and highly skilled than the immigrants from outside of the EU. The points based system will IN FACT benefit them more than the immigrants from outside the EU, not including Australians and New Zealanders. Most people are unaware of this fact.

I think I heard that podcast too. Think it was a guest on Sargon of Akkad's channel. Apparently, a lot of Russians are moving back into Poland and Lithuania to fill in the void left. I still remember 1990 when they had to leave those Baltic states when the Soviet Union collapsed.

Duh, in the long run its gonna hurt their own nations as brain drain and labor drain will not help looking at Eastern Europe as a whole their is process of huge emigration but at same time low birth rate to sustain interesting note

Do you believe that people get what they want? Unless they fix the scheme they have proposed, I don't see anything else happening.

True they did. They got Brexit. They got a stop in low-skill immigration. So called "Skilled" immigration is now wide open. Again if they don't fix it.

No, its not uncontrolled non-European immigration. It will be uncontrolled "anyone-who-got-a-degree-and-a-job-which-pays-peanuts" immigration. 25-30 thousand pounds are pretty low threshold. Its essentially 48K CDN. Thats what a Walmart floor manager makes.

Not with all those Russians moving in and picking up where they left off in back in 1990 when the Soviet Union collapsed.

Therefore the beneficiaries will again be EU citizens as they are more educated and highly skilled compared to immigrants from outside the EU.

Russia may have the highest birth rate at 1.75 among the Europeans but still small and Russia does have a lot of immigrants mainly from poorer ex "USSR" republics in Central Asia and the Caucausus emigration is still sorta high

Yes and no. It will come down to who can work for 25-30 K GBP. And do I need to spell out who does that?

Take a look at H1B system to know who does that.

A few things here, I can't reply to everyone individually;

-No the UK is not reliant on EU labour for industries e.g. such as health, this is pure fantasy and I put the figures up earlier 2 weeks ago. The reason was because they were cheap.
-Over 95% of EU labour is unskilled i.e. not wanted.
-No one country will be favoured, although the Commonwealth will probably will get first dibs, as it is a sign of goodwill after years of neglect form the UK by way of being strapped into the single market.
-No the system is fair, look it up.
-Yes there is something which hasn't been mentioned yet and will come out fairly soon regarding this system i.e. quotas in industries to prevent a surge in population. Controls will be applied.
