UK High Commissioner on Eurofighter Prospect for BAF: "Sovereignty Doesn't Come Cheap"

. .
Why does BD want to buy such fancy warplanes? Who would attack them or who would they attack?

If they want to buy a good fighter why not go for JF 17?

Regards

With the solution you are offering there is gonna be impending armed conflict in bdesh or alone its borders asThe west are becoming ever desperate for bdesh to join its quad, making very convenient for the west to help us on condition that we become full member.

Then to use bdesh like cannon fodder, against China.

There's always, another way. Instead, going for the poisoned gem straight away, why don't we buy j-10 and a few extra ones at and with tot.

Then buy 2030, we start looking at these option. Right now bdesh could try and see if it could join S.korea and Indonesian programme even if as an observational member? Indonesia has had funding issues.

If were to buy j-10 in more numbers than usual, we would also got tot. Once it is possible for us to get a gem no tainted, we sell the extra surplus j-10 's to a third party of China permission.

Does any one disagree with my reasoning above.

If you buy poisoned gems from these groups in a up and coming geopolitical area, then some how a conflict just happens to come up.

A country like bdesh will have to seek permission to use their gems, gets forces into agreements. Like becoming a full quad member. With view of becoming like today's ukraine or Syria in 20 yrs time.

In addition to that during the present hypothetical conflict, we will have to buy parts and ammunitions off them.

Even If becoming an observational member in the Indonesian S.korean program. We will and incredible amount of tech know how. We may even be able to to purchase these unit and lower rate as well. Whilst developing our own industry.

Better go with Chinese aircraft. Britain will sell but will sanction very quickly.
big complaint against the EFT is that four countries have a veto on the supply. the OPEX costs are quite high
Bangladesh cannot fully trust UK against India and China agaist Burma for ongoing wartime support hence the need for a Western-Chinese mix.

We are surrounded by unreliable (and at times, hostile) countries operating Rafales and Su-30 variants. If we cannot stand up to these jets, no point in maintaining an air force. JF-17s would not cut it.

A sovereign country reserves the right to protect its borders and assets.

You should ask these questions to your own IAF....especially the first two.

We have waited so long why not wait a little longer and get the Turkish TFX/Kaan? It would be cheaper and far more modern, plus less likely of sanctions.

Can someone pls explain why we didn't go for j-10 in numbers, with of selling excess numbers once we have a viable gem? We would also get tot privileges.

Also Indonesian have been having funding issues, it could have been a very good opportunity for us to be involved even in an observational manner? Or am I on another planet? Can someone pls explain the limitations of this In terms of stately matters?

I am not an aviation expert. There are others here who are far more qualified to comment on this. My Khamoshi is appropriate in this case. :-)

BAF knows what spare parts are needed. So, BD will buy those parts and stockpile them when ordering planes.

This was done when it bought Helicopters from the USA. So, do not you worry. Our people know what to do. You better worry about your own border security.
There is only so much "sparing" you can do. On top of that, Typhoon is probably the most challenging platform to own given any consortium member can take a gripe and pose problems with spares etc. In the future, anytime there is any contention with India, BD will find these levers being used against it.

Also, telling members to worry about "your own border security" makes little sense when you are on a defense forum open to the public where anyone or everyone can comment on issues. ;-)

Our F-16s, single-sourced from the US, were a challenge to maintain despite having the entire Turkish aerospace industry available to Pakistan to import spares from. A lot of the times, spares require firmware, software upgrades and the source code is tightly controlled by the OEM. So it is not simply a matter of having a bunch of hardware sitting in a sparing warehouse.

Every western platform is problematic in this regard. Be it F-16s, Rafale, or EF.

You talk here of aerospace industry when BD cannot even build engines for water pump machine. Even Chinese airplane engines are still immature and foreign buyers prefer their purchases to be fitted with matured Russian engines.

You and our Hasina Bibi think that airplanes can be built just by cheap talking and without technical researches and trial and errors for many decades that need investment in money.

And BD has little money and no technical expertise.
I am obviously talking of the long term.

The J-10 was never available to any foreign state until recently. Even the PAF got 30-40 combat aircraft

Jet engines are a question mark with respect to China. Chinese are not interest in sharing the technology at least upto this point

You do not have a border with China o_O

Bangladesh should not buy military equipment from EU. Buy instead from USA, China and Turkey.

This combo will allow both strategic flexibility and guaranteed world class equiment, plus stronger military to millitary contact with three of the most competent army of the world.

EU will stop militay supplies and upgrades the very moment America tells them to do so. Why the not buy directly from Big Daddy instead. If America blocks maintenace or deals youll have China to step up, and vice versa. Turkey OTOH provides a third element of cultural bonds, top notch equipment for reasonable price. Turkey is least likely of the three to block any upgrades or maintenace.

Only yesterday I heard from a Japanese that the Mitsubishi Company of Japan researched for two decades to build civilian planes. It was built but was not recognized by IATA or some other international authority.

And in the process of research, Mitsubishi spent and lost $10 billion worth of money. Note that it was Mitsubishi that built 0 fighters in the 1940s that was the best in the world at that time. Subaru was another company.

Is it not India that keeps on intimidating BD all through the year? BD needs to keep its sovereignty intact in the face of Indian Dhamki.
