I don't think Indians are asking for immigration either. We want an ability of our service professionals to move about. This is to cater to our services providers advantage. Relaxation of immigration rules will be a key condition for India, along with every other country will are desperate to sign similar deals with. Basically the same as it was in the Eu migrants.

A compromise will emerge. We ( I am a Brit) burnt our bridges , lock stock and barrel with Brexit.
We walked out of the largest common market in the world on the FALSE prospectus of a world eager to sign FTA with us.
We were promised a FTA with USA Australia and others and found the world does not give a flying F**k about FTA's with UK.
We are left scratching the bottom of a empty barrel and the Indian FTA trumpeted by that loon, Boris is nowhere to be seen.

Meanwhile India has gone past UK in GDP becoming the fifth largest trading nation and just a few years from becoming the third largest trading nation, growing at a healthy 6-8% per annum.

We need India and its trade and our desperation continues to grow as the cold hard consequences of Brexit slowly percolate down into our dull collective minds.

With China now being shunned , India is the only play in town.

The UK has NO pension pots. National Insurance is just a tax and its revenue goes into current spending. There is no mountain of money that has a "label of pension pots" that can be "transferred". The Indians know that.

This is not about NI, but workplace pensions. There are a lot of restrictions on moving it out of the UK before reaching retirement age.

Why is India so keen for its Indians to leave the India ? What does nursing have to do with anything ???

It is about labour mobility. India benefits from its citizens working abroad and either sending remittances or coming back home with additional skills picked up from international experience. Notice that India is not asking for more access for doctors. That is because the NHS is desperate to take in any foreign doctor who is qualified because British doctors keep leaving but UK immigration policy is more restrictive for nurses. India wants to export fewer doctors and more nurses.

A lot many and the trend is increasingly. Many want to participate in the fast-growing economy . Some want to be closer to family. Some want to retire early and the cost of living in India is still cheaper than in the US or UK. Some want professional growth. I even know of one case where someone was offered a higher salary in India than in the UK.

If the British want a zero immigration regime they are going to have it

If the British decide they will allow some immigration they have a choice to make. But given a choice between uneducated Pakistani workers/African refugees or skilled immigrants from India/other countries it is a no brainer

Indeed they should and Malaysia too should know as it has exported thousands of nurses into the British NHS and to Singapore and the Gulf

Malaysia is already known to importing cheap labor and exporting brains.
