its not a stupid ceremony, its a great ceremony in my opinion.
I agree.. I dont know why we are making such a big deal out of it? Its a role play.. The amount of synchronized (between the Rangers and BSF folks) training that goes into ensuring an error proof event day after day actually promotes a sense of being able to work together and not a sense of animosity. The day I was there, even the commentators from both sides congratulated each other on a well done event and multiple times instructed people on their side of the border to not disrespect the soldiers and flag of the other side. And I understand that this ceremony started in 1955 before any official war took place between India and Pakistan..
Again, reiterate, that I would hate for this to stop
