UAE Mars Mission will be great contribution to human knowledge: Mohammed

Whats with all the -ve reactions here???
U.A.E is pumping a lot of money towards higher education...Lots of international universities are opening their campuses in Dubai so in a few years they would have the human resources to pull this off !
Same is the case in Saudi Arabia with institutes like the King Saud University in Riyadh.
That's purely business reasons nothing else, especially for the people who can't get visa for these western countries they can come to Dubai for the same, good smart business thinking by Arabs.

I don't think you're living in the same world.

Look at our "education" :

Check math rankings.

Look buddy. Whateva you claim, Arab education is not upto the level above which it can be called standard. You guys do not have technicians, educators or programmers the level Pakistan has. Its not wrong not to have. Education has to develop. And it will. So maybe in 10-15 years we shall start seeing the bright minds of Arab world gaining limelight.

In short invest more and more.

Is that the same math that says salt and fresh water can't mix? Is that the same math that forbids women from driving cars? Is that the same math that allows Saudi's not even being able to perform maintenance on their tanks and fighter jets? So that they needs thousands of foreign contractors?

Arab world has too much money, that's the problem. When things are too easy you don't have the hunger to do things.

The oil rich nations but not the rest of the Arab nations. If they have citizens who study in the West they should offer them jobs back home and open a ministry responsible for science education. Anyways, I don't see point of Mars mission nor do I believe it will be easy to manage in that time period. But they need to start somewhere. And I don't see a problem with cooperating with nations on space programs for example. Better to learn from experienced nations and then build off that knowledge in future, it will take time just initiative is needed.

Instead of these stupid comments please face the reality !

launching an orbiter with a foreign launcher is not a big deal ... even penguins are able to do that !

Orbiter for a MARS mission is tough indeed considering the need to slingshot, realign its direction in space. But a orbiter .. Even University students do it..

I'm sure they must be speed dialing ISRO folks to see if they can get some from there. But I think the probe might be built in components elsewhere with the UAE guys 'integrating' it?

.
Integration and building a orbiter is no big deal. University kids do satellites in weight category of 100kg's.

But Mars mission is new level altogether.

.
Why can't they have scientists?

UAE is working with NASA and South Korea in Space sector. Only one question which country is going to Launch the Mars mission craft?

India, UAE discuss possible cooperation in space technologies | Business Standard News
Press Trust of India | Dubai
February 25, 2015

The UAE's Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST)'s top executives led by Director General Yousuf Al Shaibani recently met Indian delegates headed by Anurag Bhushan, Consul General of India in Dubai, according to EIAST statement.

They discussed possible cooperation between EIAST and India's space agency Indian Space Research Organisation in the field of space and related areas.

"India is in the midst of a massive national development campaign and one of the areas of focus is harnessing space technology for more diversified growth. ISRO, the national space agency of India has formal cooperative agreements with more than 35 countries.

"As UAE is gearing to achieve feats in the area of space such as its planned Mars mission in 2021, we believe that cooperation between India and UAE in space field will strengthen and diversify the existing strong bilateral relations," Bhushan said.

"India has shown that there are no boundaries to what can be achieved through dedication and determination. One of our main objectives in EIAST is to share knowledge and cooperate with other organisations who share our goal of developing space technology for the overall development of the nation. We look forward to working with the ISRO on future projects," said Director General Al Shaibani.

Atleast they are able to get their hands on the newest tech. What about our own country ? We still fly 60 year old American planes and claim to be able to defeat them in a war !!!!

What a total joke.

Go UAE. Show the Mullahs in Iran that you care about your country and are ready to invest in your future.

You have no idea about space technology ... politics ... etc !

please stop bothering yourself ...

There was one article about 3 years back that Iran will launch satellite along with OIC by the name Basharat.
