The UAE has announced compulsory military service for all males between the ages of 18 and 30.

The move was announced by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, on Twitter. Sheikh Mohammed said that the country’s cabinet had endorsed the plan, although there is no indication when the rules will take effect. The length of service is set to be two years for those without high school degrees, and nine months for those who have graduated from high school.

Military service will be optional for women.

“A reserve force for the UAE will be made up of those who have completed their national service, as well as members of the military who have finished their service in the armed forces,” Sheikh Mohammed said.

In November, Qatar announced that All Qatari men aged between 18 and 35 will soon be forced to undertake up to four months compulsory military service if a new government draft law is given the green light by authorities, according to a report by the AFP news agency.

The new legislation will require four months compulsory service for all men within the age bracket, while university graduates will only be expected to serve three months, the report said.

We have a Standing Army - all of our soldiers are professional, career soldiers.

Conscription is for nations that can't build a standing army, or are in a process of building one.

Though i agree, that we do need to have something similar to the National Cadet Corps.

I'm exempted from service since I'm already in :cheesy:

Didn't know eating all day in the officer's mess was considered a 'service' :D

At least we should train people after 12th Class and when war takes place we can announce who ever wants to participate can come and join the war I think their should be 6 months training along with maybe Tafseer taught

some idiots here saying that Pakistan should follow suit.If done, this will be disasterous as i am sure there will be mutiny in the army. The Balochi's and Muhajirs will start it.

However, conscription for punjabi's is a good idea though

So you mean to say only Punjabi is true Pakistani. How idiotic and low level thought you have :hitwall:

This seems like special preparations being made for the arrival of their master Dajjal by the Khaleeji rulers. lol I can bet you all the equipment, manual, training, etc. will be made and supervised by their Zionist American masters. They have already made a dajjal house on jabal habshi outside Madinah, check this

I' love my khaleeji/Saudi brethen and love visiting khaleej countries esp Madinah Munawarah and Makkah, so don't take this as a personal attack, just talking about a few misguided dajjali rulers at the helm of their affairs.

By going thru this mandatory army service khaleeji population esp the youth would psychologically be brainwashed into becoming the guardian protectors of their immoral dajjali rulers.

@FireFighter

Troll, before you start spurring nonsense and writing "Khaleeji" this and that then realize this simple fact that Saudi Arabians are not so-called Khaleeji Arabs nor do we even speak a Khaleeji dialect of Arabic nor is our culture a Khaleeji one.

Now run along elsewhere to troll.

@Aeronaut please deal with this trolling.

Thank you.

Hey man I am not a troll, I been on these forums for far too long to be a troll. Thanks for correcting me, I always thought Saudia was part of the Khaleej when it is not. But this doesn't the rest of my post is wrong.

I just made a comment that i knew was not going to settle well with a few people here, who are in love with their dajjali rulers. But the morally conscious muslims would understand what i am talking about. As a muslim, do you deny the existence of dajjal and all the ahadith that talk about it?

My comment is perfectly in line with the topic here and it is not trolling. I have simply viewed this mandatory conscription thing from a religious angle. You are most welcome to disagree, but present some evidence as a rational person.

I could write a book regarding KSA and its history or that of the Arabian Peninsula, Arab world, Semitic civilizations etc. but this is not the topic. The fact that you do not even know this simple thing tells me a lot and that you are probably not well versed about the region and mostly listen to propaganda.

Your "analysis" is not fitting for this thread and I suggest making a thread called "Saudi Arabia dajjal" where you can tell about your brilliant theories. I am sure that a lot of users will love that to happen. But we do not care about such lunatic theories.

This thread is about compulsory military service for men in the UAE. What has what you are blabbering about got to do with this news?

It's entirely up to me to express my opinion in which ever thread I choose to respond to. There is no need to be bossy and angry about my opinion, it is after all just an opinion like yours with the possibility of being wrong.

I am trying to decipher the main purpose behind this mandatory service rule in the UAE, Qatar and other neighbouring countries. Some of these rulers have been sponsoring wars all over the middle east at the behest of their zionist masters. Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Pakistan, you name a country they have not meddle into. After all for what purpose? One has to be absolutely blind not to see this.

UAE: Tough penalties for evading conscription

Failure to join reserve troops at times of war would carry 10 years in jail

Citizens who fail to join the mandatory military and reserve service will face up to 10 years in prison, according to a draft law, passed by the Cabinet in January and referred to the Federal National Council for debate.

The bill would require all men who have finished secondary school or are aged between 18 and 30 to undergo military service. The toughest penalty of 10 years’ jail would be handed down to citizens who fail to join the reserve troops once mobilised at war or martial law times or at any total or partial mobilisation for any threat against the UAE.

The bill would also penalise those who attempt to avoid the national service with a minimum jail term of a year, a fine of between Dh50,000 and Dh100,000 or both penalties.

The draft law was fast-tracked and forwarded to the House on Tuesday, which sent it to the defence committee.

Once passed by the FNC the bill needs to be signed into a law by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It will be enforced after six months from the date of publishing in the official gazette.

Once the law is enforced, Emiratis who had finished secondary school will have to serve nine months, while those who had not will serve two years. The national service will be optional for women.

Citizens who fail to enlist for military service without valid reason until they reach 29 years of age would face a jail term of between one month and a year, or a fine ranging between Dh10,000 and Dh50,000 or both. They will have to undergo the military service even if they exceeded the age limit of 30 years.

The reserves will consist of those who have completed their national service, military personnel who have finished their time in the Armed Forces and volunteers.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said the new law aims to put together a new national defence in order to protect the homeland and its borders and its resources and gains.

Shaikh Mohammad added the national service would include military exercises, and those enlisted in the Armed Forces would receive additional security training, stressing that protecting the nation and preserving its independence and sovereignty is a sacred national duty.

Once passed, those eligible will have to report to authorities to determine their service status. The sole son of a family and medically unfit citizens would benefit from an exemption to military service. Those who sustain their parents or disabled siblings and those serving jail terms would benefit from a temporary exemption. Once the reason for temporary exemption is over, those people have to report to the authorities to undergo the military service.

Working Emiratis will not be exempt and while serving in the military, time will be added to their end of service and pension benefits.

Military training will be held at Armed Forces centres.
