  • US secretary of state John Kerry calls India's national security adviser Shivshankar Menon, expresses regret over diplomat's arrest

Its a no go...the treatment meted out to a foriegn diplomat by the USA was way out of line. They should apologize to her.

What are arrests in India like? How should the deputy consul have been arrested?

arrests are of 3 kind

1. you summon the person to the police station and surrender ( this is how respected officials are arrested anywhere in the civilized world)
2. you go to his house and arrest (privacy)
3. you go and get them in public, this type of arrest is done only on criminals/rapists and murders

Its a deliberate attempt to humiliate

It's easy as pie America - apologize to the lady for the ill treatment meted out to her akin to a normal criminal and restore her dignity.

Maybe she should have thought about that before she broke the law. She lost any "dignity" she had when she put herself into that situation. When you play stupid games, don't be surprised when you win stupid prizes... Brilliant political move on India's part, for a country hell bent on winning the popularity contest over Pakistan with the US this was a stupid maneuver to make.

Come on Solomon, you know from my posts I am pro American. But excessive use of force, is excessive use of force. You cannot compare the NYPD with Indian Police, for starters the chief of NYPD wrote the book on Use of Force and tactical communications still used in street policing awareness today.

As a former member of the LEO fraternity i envy the NYPD...

do you know the meaning of accusation ? she has been accused , nothing is proven in court . SO unless until its proven don't sprout the usual BS ...

Yeah, that's not going to happen, firstly they were exercising their duties. Secondly a symbolic "suspension" maybe on the cards, which may cause trouble with the Unions and B.O won't want that to anger NY and the mayor... So yeah that's not going to happen anytime soon.

.
Yeah, I guess that's why she was arrested.

Do you even know what are standard operating procedures are ? or do you even know whats going on here ? Do you know what diplomatic immunity means or are you randomly writing things without an iota of common sense ?

I'm just amazed by US's arrogance. With all that going around in the world, they still think they are can rule the roost & bully anyone & everyone they want. They fail to realize how quickly public opinions can change & they have a real knack of turning public opinion against them. Maybe this time they have gone too far. Those protests infront of their embassy should say something. They are accustomed to those kind of things in lesser countries.... but coming from a Country like India will have far reaching implications!
