lol, think I left the US for so long, I don't remember how expensive it get as to living in the US.

For $600000 USD, you can live like a king in this ~1,000 Sq Mtr block (9,000 sq fts), why settle with apartment less than 1,000 square ft??

I got tired of living in apartments while in the 'states. I bought my first house here in New Jersey when I was 27, a perfect time to buy since the cost of property back in 2012-2013 was very affordable. Now, my house value increased significantly , the cost of houses in my town are actually rising again.

My house is 2,850 square feet. I have 3/4 acre of property. :)

not the same over here, it has been quite cheap when I move to Australia, then it goes up and up and now the price is almost double.

Still better then when I was staying in Stockholm....

I am thinking of selling my house and get a farm in the country in the future, but don't know man, out there, you live with no one by dingo and kangaroo

haha! I could only wish prices were that low here.

Belmont Real Estate & Belmont Homes For Sale | Trulia.com

Holy $hit! Well i can only imagine the high cost of homes since its in the Greater Boston Area --- and as i have read from real estate magazines, the suburbs of Boston is one of the best areas to raise a family, plus, great school systems there, yes? Do you happen to know how much is your monthly mortgage ? Or did you put down a considerable downpayment?

For my house, when i purchased it it was around $275,000 , then i had to put some money down on restoration of the interior. But yea, i put down 50%, and my current monthly mortgage is about $1,400. I'm in for a 15 year.

This is a view you'll see in South Jersey's country roads, farming communities, which is where my town is in. I prefer the country-suburban setting. Away from the frenzied hurly burly of the city life.

I paid mostly cash for mine (built brand new too) and it was well above $275K (the house that was torn down to build it cost more than that). I only have $150K left on a 15yr @2.75%. Pretty much all homes in decent towns are being sold for 100% cash. So I'm lucky I was able to pull it off.

well, Country NSW in Australia have nothing, I once live in a Farm near Kemsey, I have to drive to get to next door neighbour... They lived 3.4 Km from where we were, we have more Kangaroo and wallabies, as well as Spider, Scorpions and Snake than human in country NSW....

If you want absolutely nothingness, then Country NSW is your place :)

I have a similar experience.

When I was married, my wife was a 'Southern gal' from South Carolina, and we are talking about deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep tobacco country where cigs, moonshine, kale, and catfish are common in every home. My experience with genuine Southern moonshine is for another story. Anyway...We were on our way to meet my in-laws for the first time and on this lonely and tree lined two-lane road, houses are from 1/4 to a mile apart and usually so well behind the trees that one can barely make out the roof line. There were no street lights so at night, one is on one's own. Then all of a sudden as we turned a curve, a nice big house was right on the side of the road and in a cleared field. The property was complete with a nice front yard with b-ball hoops and tire swing, clearly a family residence.

And right in front of the house was a sign...

We laughed hard. There was no way anyone can see anyone else's home. Not sure exactly how anyone can keep watch on his/her neighbor. Maybe 'suspicious activities' mean moonshine running from another county.

Lol....

Try to beat this....

I was driving Burke Developmental road in North West Queensland when I first came to Australia, wanting to see the very famous outback, well Cairns, I wanted to experience some outback like every god damn tourist...

Then someone recommended us (me and my lady) drive thru from Cairns to Normanton, some 650s Kms away from Cairns, yeah, no problem. And then the guy in the visiting center tell me to fill up my rig before I go and ask me about my fuel capacity and do I have any spare tank or what not, I was quite amaze that he ask that and I answer the question accordingly and drove off laughing.

Then about 100KM into the trip, I see this

sign-560.jpg

Next gas station - 560KM away......

well, to be honest, I didn't catch that when I drove thru the first time, then I saw this when I stopped on the side road

800px-Burke_Developmental_Road_near_Karumba.jpg

well, actually I did not see that, but my wife suddenly ask me the same question that the visiting center guy ask me a few hours ago, and I look at the fuel guage and I said, yeah, my tank was ok. And she asked "can it last 540 km??" and I said, of course not....

Then she point at the sign and say, "We better head back"

What do they usually invest? Any requirement for the usage of 500,000? Like small business or real estate.

if you have 500K and need a US EB-5 Investor Green card, the best way is to invest via Hotel Industry.
Nowadays Hotels are being financed not by issuing bonds, but pooling investor visa seekers.
They pool money, build hotels, which creates the jobs. They arrange for attorneys and get you the green card..

you can either get a interest rate return, or get a stake in Hotel.

article belowshows some details.

http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2012/09/06/visas-for-dollars-program-a-boon-to-hotel-developers/?_r=0

200,000 can buy you a business, but not enough to run a business for 2 years. and during that time you are expecting 200,000 a year in expense (rent, wages, bits and pieces here and there.)

And No, F1 won't allow you any business activities. You have to either have H1B/L1/L2/E-1/2/3 or EB class visa to do business or work in the US. F1/J1 is student visa, no work allowed

Not entirely correct about F-1 not able to work.

F1- visa holders(students) can work within campus at library, physical plant, Graduate Assistants, Reasearch Assistants... etc. Now if you are bold and adventurous and you are studying in urban setting , just wander outside your campus to one of those small family businesses (like deli, gas stations, family pizza place etc,), tell them you are short of money and looking for a job for cash. walk to 10 stores, drop your phone number, you WILL get a job and make some decent cash.
