U.S. household wealth rebounded to a record in the first quarter as the stock market recovered from a plunge in the prior period, supporting consumers after Federal Reserve interest-rate hikes and trade-war shocks rattled investors late last year.

Net worth for households and non-profit groups increased by $4.69 trillion, or 4.5%, to $108.6 trillion after a 3.7% drop in the prior period, Federal Reserve data showed Thursday. Household debt growth slowed to a 2.3% annual pace, the least since late 2015, from a 2.8% rate in the prior quarter.

Just because Jeff Bezos had a good year doesn't mean its good for everyone, a country where one man has 131 billion yet children go hungry.

America's 13.1 million households with children that often go without food

There are not many countries on this planet where no children go hungry. We have programs in place to solve this.

BTW your 13.1M number should be taken with a grain of salt just like the numbers for Australia. Seems the number of Billionaires doesn’t make a difference.

What is with Libya showing up as the lone African state in the green? I thought that Libya was still a virtually lawless state.

As for many 'Muricans saying they didn't have enough money to buy the food they needed, it is because of a shortage in yellow fin tuna sushi in Chicago and other mid-western cities driving prices through the roof. Also, the cost of 10 GigaBbyte cell phone data plans has squeezed out the discretionary funds for buying Kobe beef (Wagyu)hamburgers that our families need.

Just think of it as a national dieting plan for the fat, lazy and dumb Murrikans. :D

How are you Grandpa @VCheng ?

Am guilty as charged. Spent too much money on AR-15s, bike parts, booze, and hookers. :enjoy:

Hey @gambit I'm guilty too...
