U.S. Effort to Help India Build Up Navy Hits Snag

What can we expect from the Corrupt Indian Govt......

.
After reading the article the concern seems to be India's hesitation on sharing the construction and cutting the delay. Also the CISW issue is not new US has offered the Phalanx for India replacement of AK630 but I am assuming India didn't show interest hence the concern. As for missile for sub, that's a dedicated role for the new ASW ships so no issue there.

lol you two look like biggest twats on here if you really believe air craft carriers don't have have a defence system against submarines.

really bro go look at a national geographic documentary on ship carriers on youtube and how they have been developed over the years, like how they counter submarine torpedoes with their own torpedoes.

this is the dumbest thing I've ever read on the internet, indians saying carriers don't have anti missile systems against submarines :sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic:
Anti missile system against a submarine?? What were you smoking?

An ACC will employ counter torpedo system or anti-torpedo system. And this new carrier of IN will have BARAK-8 or BARAK-8ER to counter Ariel targets and incoming missiles.

This is a 'I told you so' moment when it comes to American reliance on India as a bulwark against China. First Indians will milk you and then frustrate you. They have neither will nor capacity to take on China and they know it. What India is best is in doing business and trade without the backing of a military. They know how to sell their 'churan'. They show you something but provide something else. I feel for the geniuses in white house who would pulling their hair out by now. The burn from Afghanistan must be fresh too.

With india getting closer in a decade to come to Arm itself (& in the process switching to American inteest rather thn Russio-Chinese) .... Russia will get the wind and will already be in the Pak-China Column ... (hopefully along with Turkey & iran ) ... we are moving forward for another ACTIVE two block setup ... God Help Us All and Sanity prevails !

Agreed but things are not that simple. Indian will no longer be able to enjoy double game with both Russia and US and soon matters will take decisive turn.

.
Not surprising at all. Indian is just trying to hurry things and give an impression to the mass that she is up on neck to neck to with the Chinese in carrier development. There are large number of sub component for carriers that Indian could not make themselves.
They should order those parts from China.

What double game you are talking about man? We are partners not allies. We work on the matters that are mutually beneficial to us.The Russians and The U.S , they both know it. We are not like Pakistan seeking allies, fighting each others war and what not.

.
Comparing an Aircraft carrier with a fighter jet and Tank?

Not surprising, given Pakistan has never used one

When top American naval engineers recently inspected India’s first locally made aircraft carrier they expected to find a near battle-ready ship set to help counter China’s growing sway in the Indian Ocean.

Instead, they discovered the carrier wouldn’t be operational for up to a decade and other shortcomings: no small missile system to defend itself, a limited ability to launch sorties and no defined strategy for how to use the ship in combat.
The findings alarmed U.S. officials hoping to enlist India as a bulwark against China, people close to the meeting said.

“China’s navy will be the biggest in the world soon, and they’re definitely eyeing the Indian Ocean with ports planned in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh,” said retired Admiral Arun Prakash, the former commander of India’s navy. “The Indian navy is concerned about this.”

The February carrier inspection, in the port of Kochi, formed part of U.S. plans to share aircraft carrier technology with India. Indian naval officials followed up with a tour of an American shipbuilding yard in Virginia and strategy briefings at the Pentagon in September, the people close to the meetings said.

The U.S. and India are drawing closer politically and militarily. The two have participated in joint naval exercises with Japan. The U.S. has agreed to sell New Delhi everything from attack helicopters to artillery. Washington has approved proposals by Lockheed Martin and Boeing Co. to make advanced jet fighters in India. And in August, the two countries signed a military logistics-sharing accord

Indian navy's ultimate goal is to handle China and we are capable of . If US thinks that we need to be more professional like them , we can sign a contract to Modernise to the US par.
