WASHINGTON: Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke by phone with Pakistan’s top military leader, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa, March 21, confirmed U.S Defense Department press release, Monday.
While giving out more details, the statement mentioned that Secretary Austin reinforced the United States’ commitment to maintaining a strong bilateral defense relationship with Pakistan and expressed gratitude for Islamabad’s continued support for the Afghan peace process. Secretary Austin noted that he looks forward to further cooperation between the United States and Pakistan in areas of common interest, it added.

We heard better jokes then that. Denying even the helicopter engines and selling Apaches to the south side of the border.
They are looking for the mutually one sided favours by keeping PA in the loop while keeping civilian administration at the arm length. I gone off US sweet words long time ago when our FC boys were getting butchered by the Taliban as poor things were stationed and were operating at the isolated posts at the border without the air cover. We were almost begging them for the attack drones and were frightening their stupid war and what we were hearing it "DO MORE" and were denying us the help we needed. Our sold out rulers didn't had the balls to tell them where F**k to go as they were busy lining there own pockets.
We came out of that situation more stronger and wiser and we will have trade only with the US and that will do for us mutually.

Nice Nice diplomatic talk. Conventional defense cooperation ended after Pressler.

That said Pakistan should reach out to the USA and work with USA on counter terrorism in Afghanistan. It was a mistake for Pakistan not to work with USA against OBL in the 90's....looking in hindsight. Pakistan should pursue trade concessions and USA unconventional assistance against TTP/BLA in return.

We should play the game but understand the boundaries.

For the record, as a US citizen, I have no problem with Pakistan getting more F-16s and getting F 35’s
