I guess he was merely a cross dresser.

A "mukhannath" is basically a homosexual.

By the point is, read the last part, He said: I have been prohibited from killing people who pray."

Which means that harming those that may be Muslim homosexuals, transgendered or whatever else, is a sin. That's what I get out of it at least.

.
I quoted from a journal Please stop reading between the liens...What you posted is an association which ANYONE can join be he/she in the field or not...Be they doing research or not...

@darkinsky :blink:

You quoted from a journal in 1966. In 1972 they themselves redacted it. And that association, or ANY other professional association has derecognised it as a disorder. Read that wiki page in my previous post, for a history of how psychiatry treated homosexuality. It was assumed from thee very beginning that it was a disorder, without question, since that was the socual attitude. Not any more.

The very journal you quoted - go read their recent articles please. Anything later than the 70s.

And clearly you dont know much about it, considering what you wrote about the APA. They release THE authoritative manual of psychiatric disorders, used worldwide. The DSM.

Some info about the APA:

The American Psychiatric Association (APA) is the main professional organization of psychiatrists and trainee psychiatrists in the United States, and the largest psychiatric organization in the world.[1] Its some 36,000[1] members are mainly American but some are international. The association publishes various journals and pamphlets, as well as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). The DSM codifies psychiatric conditions and is used worldwide as a key guide for diagnosing disorders.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Psychiatric_Association

Anyway, I don't want to argue the credibility of the APA. (Which would be preposterous.) Even if they are not credible for you - read the journals being printed now, and see if any credible professional association treats it as a disordder. Only the religiously funded ones do, that too a tiny number.

Treating homosexuality as a disorder simply did not pass the rigorousness of scientific validity, when they did that. Update yourself.

This is like quoting a European scholar in the 1500s to claim that the earth is flat. You can still find a few who believe that. But if you read anything written after 1600, you will know that the consensus is that the earth os not flat.

Similarly, read any psychiatric journal in the 70s or 80s onward about homosexuality.

Yeah, but still it was a close call for the dude, I wont use henna and make it so obvious if I was him...
Anyway, we are talking whether it is sanctioned by religion.... not what to do with them.

I don't think it is, but if it happens regardless, we're not allowed to harm them as long as they remain Muslim, as per the hadith.

And that part, @Talon, you just made up out of thin air. Plain old lie. Here, about their membership:

APA reports [6] that its membership is primarily medical specialists who are qualified, or in the process of becoming qualified, as psychiatrists. The basic eligibility requirement is completion of a residency program in psychiatry accredited by the Residency Review Committee for Psychiatry of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPS(C)), or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Applicants for membership must also hold a valid medical license (with the exception of medical students and residents) and provide one reference who is an APA member.

Anyway, please read the wiki page about homosexuality and psychiatry, if you want to educate yourself on the real picture, instead of clinging on what you want to believe.

Homosexuality and psychology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Assuming that you are actually interested in the reality, and not in just making up stuff to support your position. Read it, it is very illuminating about attitudes toward homosexuality in particular, and about the dangers of letting "conventional wisdom" going unchallenged, or replacing rigorous science.

Judge not , for you will be judged . :D

Says one part of the bible. And yet, most of the bible asks people to sit in judgement over other people's actions, and to punish them (even if those actions were their personal matter). Most other religions ask its followers to judge others too.

I am not judging them of course (from morality pov), but whether act is islamic as implied by @raja pakistani. Your idea could well imply pak authorities are wrong in branding ahmedis as non-muslims.

Yes , it does . The Bible is not uniform , it has several different versions .

The personal matter should remain personal , live and let live , it shouldn't be judged by the people unless it concerns them , something people must understand .

I am not sure if most other religions ask their followers to judge others , does Hinduism ?

judgement has nothing to with religion or religious people. Atheists or non religious also judge others because of their actions or words. we all do judgement on daily basis :) If someone start abusing me then i think i will also judge his attitude, acts or words

Islam ask you to stop giving judgement on faiths/iman of other Muslims..like God will forgive them or not, like they will be in hell or heaven, like you are better Muslim than others etc such judgement is not allowed as per Islamic beliefs because its only between them and God and day of judgement is there for this purpose

I know , no need to get serious on that . :D

Well , we have a universal definition for Muslims , mate .
