We can't rely on China to fight our war.
We saw what happened to Pakistan in 1971.

We don't have any better options either. China can provide us quality weapons with reasonable cost compare to western country. We have strategic relation with China for decades. Situation in 1971 and now are totally different we can't compare today's China and China of 60's .

As long as BN can protect itself in Bay of Bengal, PLAN CBGs can ensure non-harrassment
of BD shipping in IOR. China wont even need to engage the IN as it will completely dominate in technology.

By 2030 Japan and Korea combined will be nothing in front of China.

Why should allowing docking facilities to China
upset Japan or Korea as they wont be affected
by this?

China, Japan and Korea all three had been long-term allies of ours.... this has been the policy of Bangladesh and is likely to be in the near future.... you can't possibly change decisions on this based on arguments alone....

Japan and Korea are also heavily dependent on raw materials from Middle East and Africa.... they won't like their merchant shipping being escorted by PLAN warships, just like China won't like their merchant shipping being escorted by USN ships.... this is a very simple matter in geopolitics.... why should it be difficult to understand?..... if Bangladesh starts giving docking facilities to PLAN warships and then Japan comes in and demands the same, would Bangladesh allow this?..... would it be like the policies of Djibouti, who allowed everyone to have military bases on their land?

We need a strong presence of friendly BD navy in IOR to make sure the sea lane won't controlled by our enemy.

highly appreciate your opinion.... :china:

Dude I am talking about 2030 onwards when China is a superpower on par with US.

USN and PLAN CBGs will be the major fleets
in the IOR at the time. Japan and Korea can have
their ships being escorted by USN as they are US allies.

BD will need to lean towards China as only China
has the interest and ability to make BD economically and militarily strong.

100 years ago or 100 years from now,China can only provide us with equipment and expertise. They will not fight our war.
A teacher can teach you by giving you knowledge. The teacher won't take the exam for you.Simple.

In 1971, China was in the chaos of Cultural Revolution, which made him too weak to launch any military action against anyone.
Except for engagement in the war directly, China had done anything his could to help Pakistan.

That depends on who you fight against.
If your enemy is india, i think any type of assistance from China is on the table.

Ignore a few ignorant BD posters as they are not aware of the massive geopolitical change
happening as we speak.
The world of 2030 will no longer have US as the
only superpower.
We are not even talking about China fighting for BD here, only that Chinese CBGs deter India from
attempting to blockade BD shipping. China will
happily do this as it cannot allow India any power
in the open expanses of the IOR. This is as much
in China's interest as it is in BD's.

China type-093 nuclear attack submarine has already deter Indian navy in the IOR.
I think the better way is Bengal will develop their economy asap in the coming years till being strong enough to maintain a fleet of nuclear submarines that would be the nightmare of Indian.

Will China sell BD SSNs?
Even if it did, I am not sure if this will
fit into probable BD doctrine of only trying to challenge Indian Navy in Bay of Bengal. Cost of SSN could also be an issue here as BD funds will remain limited for the next 1-2 decades.

Maybe if SSNs are on the table and China is willing to offer soft loans to
purchase say half a dozen SSNs, BD could see if buying a fleet of SSNs will put paid to Indian dreams of blockading BD for good.

Russia could lend SSN to India. Why not China ?
Money is a real problem, so economy development is always the top issue.

China already have a port in BOB right at the BD border. Blocking BD means a direct blockade of Chinese port and China. I dont know how China going to react to it.
Strong BD navy is equally important for Chinese port in Sittwe.

. .
Bangladesh Navy can have access to almost any port in the Indian Ocean.... and if Indonesian Navy visits Chittagong Port, Bangladesh may not object.... and it may be the same for warships from other countries in the Indian Ocean rim.... this is just one perspective I give regarding the power projection options available to Bangladesh....

Bangladesh is building coal-fired power plants.... Indonesian coal is not going to be available for long.... so, it may be coal from Africa that will become important for Bangladesh.... Bangladesh is also building up fleets of vessels for carrying coal.... now, when Bangladesh would be dependent on African coal to keep away darkness, keeping that lifeline secure would be more than just another option.... similar things can be said about oil from the Middle East or other commodities like cement clinker, wheat, sugar, edible oil, copper, iron, aluminium, lead, zinc, etc. etc...... keeping the sea lanes open is a matter of survival, not luxury, no option....

we simply can't depend on others to keep us alive.... this is not an option....
