Bangladesh Navy can have access to almost any port in the Indian Ocean.... and if Indonesian Navy visits Chittagong Port, Bangladesh may not object.... and it may be the same for warships from other countries in the Indian Ocean rim.... this is just one perspective I give regarding the power projection options available to Bangladesh....
Bangladesh is building coal-fired power plants.... Indonesian coal is not going to be available for long.... so, it may be coal from Africa that will become important for Bangladesh.... Bangladesh is also building up fleets of vessels for carrying coal.... now, when Bangladesh would be dependent on African coal to keep away darkness, keeping that lifeline secure would be more than just another option.... similar things can be said about oil from the Middle East or other commodities like cement clinker, wheat, sugar, edible oil, copper, iron, aluminium, lead, zinc, etc. etc...... keeping the sea lanes open is a matter of survival, not luxury, no option....
we simply can't depend on others to keep us alive.... this is not an option....
