Two Chinese bullet trains completed a crossing test at a relative speed of 840km/h today noon (Fri. July 15th, 2016), setting a new world record.

The test is done on high speed rail line Xuzhou to Zhengzhou.

Even 40 KM/hr was considered suicide speed not few decades ago..Now we are talking about 150 km/hr in general talks when driving on roads. This is atleast on dedicated tracks. There is no need to mock a technical milestone.

This is a crossing test. Two 420km/h trains travel at opposite direction, so the relative speed is 840km/h. The test is done to verify the safety of the trains under extreme situations.

That is not mocking. There's a big difference between 150 km/h and 840km/h. A technical milestone has to consider safety first. Not just technical.

Crossing test was mentioned in the first post as well..Seems you missed it and you thought it was one way speed. If you see the pics in the first post the speed of each train was around 420 Km/hr....

Nevertheless...speed thrills....and after experiencing freefall sky diving...nothing excites and comparable....

- this is a crossing test
- 840km/h refers to relative speed of the two trains
- the train itself travels at 420km/h (see the pictures)

Also, pls show at least some basic respect to the work of the engineers/research staff of China. Thanks.

Man it is a relative speed.......not the speed of a train......and it was not the speed test, but a test of "high speed train crossing"........speed of each train while crossing each other is 420 km/h.

Very exciting news！
We have witnessed our standardised CRH350, both China North Railway version (the blue) and the China South Railway version (the golden), starting from an idea to real prototypes in such a short time. It has passed 380km/h cruising speed test early this year, now they have reached 420km/h! I can't wait to see these two prototypes to be massively manufactured to replace the outdated CRHs.

Speeding up!

The test was conducted on the Zhengzhou-Xuzhou HSR (part of the Silk Road HSR)
which is due to open in September 2016.

This high-speed railway with operational speed of 350-380km/h will be another milestone in China's HSR development history. With its inauguration, the total mileage will surpass 20,000km!

lol, you will become tomato sauce in seconds.
Though the more likely result is when you reach the track, automatic sensor mechanism will warn the whole system and all trains will stop.
