Twitter fires more than 90% of India staff, leaving just a dozen

It ain't easy anywhere in tech.
There's been massive layoffs across the tech industry in the US. Given how hard it is for indians to get green card, and how hard it is to find jobs with visa sponsorship, many will have to leave after 60 days. Same is true to lesser extent for Chinese as well.

Better for locals, I guess.

Awww where are those PDF Indians who were celebrating Indian origin ceo appointment. :D

"...employed just over 200 people in India, and the cuts left it with just about a dozen staff, people familiar with the matter said..."

We know Google, Facebook, Microsoft and many other big companies have huge campuses and office/factory complexes here.. kinda surprising twitter has/had such a small presence, spl given how popular it is and how significant a user base Indians make.

ftfy
The current lot might be to blame. They were towing Modi's line like a loyal animal. More than likely twitter would rehire after Elon consolidates his position.

was Indian liblols who were cheering that annoying CEO guy and Vijaya Gady whatever b1tch.. she played a part in getting Trump kicked off too and was smug about it.. seen her on Joe Rogan's, and a few others.. she loved manipulating it to suit the liblol agenda..

I feel alot of people on these boards are looking too much into this and celebrating Musk terminating Indian employees. I believe hes just trimming the fat and removing baggage. This is not a orchestrated effort to rid Indians from big Tech.

.
This will almost undoubtedly result in more lynch-mobs that don't get stopped by content moderation teams though.

I think that's more important.
That is a WhatsApp problem.

baggage along with ideological garbage.

this is course correction, the righting of a listing/lefting ship.

I agree with the "public utility" argument some make there about Twitter, also hope it doesn't become a 'bastion' of either side of the argument, but remains a place for ideas to be exchanged (within reasonable bounds of decency and TOS)

These idiots actually banned a POTUS ffs, that is corporate overreach and should be unacceptable to all free and fair minded people anywhere on earth.

This is not a orchestrated effort to rid Indians from big Tech.
Of course not, shouldn't been seen or suspected to be as such either. I know a bunch of them up and down the scale.. "software coolie" lol to proper startups.

Pitchai, for eg, is an "elite" tam-bram, an "Iyengar" even.. super top echelon stuff within our genocidal caste system. :sarcastic:

LMAO i was just wondering why all of sudden twitter app is smelling so good 😊👍

There was a lot of hullabaloo surrouding modiland's own shudh, dharmic, hindutvafied, saffron version of twitter app "Ku" a while back. what's become of it since then?

It lasted as long as Kangana Ranaut's relevance, who incidentally was advocating for it when it was released. On a more serious note, I am very interested in seeing how Musk handles the easing of content moderation, since it is a double edged sword. For social media to be a safe and decent place, some amount of moderation is necessary, otherwise you will see all sorts of louts having a field day and sensible people withdrawing.

.
Musk is not the first one who thinks Indian infestation is a terminal disease for US big techs and won't be the last one to act on it.. other companies may follow suit
Microsoft should do it asap. That company has been destroyed by Indians. Any company with 'tech support' in India is hated by customers.

I don't know about the specific nationalities, but Elon has already asked some people he fired to come back.

The guy is brilliant in many ways, but so far, he seems a bit overmatched regarding this latest acquisition
