Channel 92, a private TV channel, came forward on Friday to take credit as the construction of the first ever temple in Islamabad was stopped by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) citing legal reasons.

“Owing to successful efforts of 92 News, the CDA stopped the construction of a temple in Islamabad,” it said in its piece published yesterday. The move comes as a team of CDA officials visited the site and told the workers to halt the construction. According to them, the structure can be built once its design is approved as per the building plan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to direct the religious affairs ministry to send the summary of the grant for the temple to the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), seeking advice. On the other hand, the ministry said that it would only renovate a place of worship of the religious minorities and would not build a new one. It added that the decision to build the temple would be taken keeping in view all religious aspects. The spokesperson added that the state will ensure protection of the rights of minorities.

On June 27, Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved Rs 100 million for the construction of the first ever temple for the Hindi community in Islamabad. The PM held a meeting with Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noorul Haq Qadri in this regard.

It’s beautiful majestic Faisal masjid as it’s central master piece. A lovely gift from our Saudi brothers

I remembered Islamabad in its early days was of local inhabitants, Pashtuns , Kashmiris others. And now people’s of different low moral standing are moving in of liberal westernised from other city ?

Is it symbol of modern liberalism or place of worship for minorities in capital city of Pakistan ?

Can't even understand how people are justifying this. People are now justifying that since the name of the city is Islamabad it shouldn't have any non-Islamic structure/place of worship built? The question I want to raise is do they think everything that happens in Islamabad is fully islamic? Drugs are in universities, scammers/corruption is everywhere, prostitution is hidden but still there, there is full nightclub scene and every Haram thing happening in this city, I want to ask them in which world are they living?

I request people to not belittle Islam as per their limited knowledge. Sure one could argue that government funding shouldn't be there, they could privately construct it anywhere they could afford. But still the funding is not that much it's "atta me namak k brabar"(10 Crore). Nothing to create a storm out of. One can hardly build a good looking house in that much amount according to Islamabadi standards, here we are talking about a place is of worship, which by its very nature is/should-be glorious and extravagant.

Anyways Hindus are 1st in minority by numbers, we have several good/working churches, yet we have hardly any famous/working mundir that could entertain a large crowd like churches. It's high time we stop with misguided complexes of some of our individuals and do justice with the minorities based on their population.

Very good!

Meanwhile in India Muslim grab public land and build illegal mosques

In India one would get lynched for branding beard...

Build with your own money, state should not waste it's money for temples.
Every thing must be regulated through institutions... while Imran Khan is wrongly advised by his advisors from UK, that every thing that goes around must be his personal prerogative, including operation swift retort.
No one is willing to admit but Pakistan has been reduced to a banana republic by the PTI mafia.

if govt is serious in giving rights to minority they should provide them with better education, jobs and improve living standards, building temples not benefit poor people belonging to hindu community who are suffering in sindh and such proceedings by govt is only for pleasing foreign powers

Reminds me of the treason case regarding finality of prophethood where politicians took vow to pursue the case and when they come in government they forgive such high treason.
