Turks lose trust in Russia, warm to US

Turkey has a tendency to alliancing with regional and emerging powers.

For Turkey's side, tensions will continue in the upcoming period, both in the main EU actors like France, and in relations with conventional blocks such as Russia and the USA.

Turkey has a very strong track 2 with all its rivals including russia and that's all what matters..

Pakistan have learnt it in 71.
Lol that was USSR.. this is Russian federation.. two different regimes.. two different ideologies.

Most of the Turkish world was under the occupation of Russian imperialism until 1990.
90s was a lost decade. After kicking out USSR from Afghanistan Pakistan and US should have also disposed off the pro Soviet aftermath leadership in Turkic central Asian countries and helped them form some sort of bloc or union ..instead we got busy in Bosnia and Somalia. And Afghanistan went into a chaos that killed whole purpose of the liberation faltered and regional security suffered which went in favor of third class pro soviet leftover scumbags some of who still rule to date.

Depends if you just look at Ottoman-Russian wars. Before that there was other Turkish kingdoms that ruled Russian Moscovy and had many many wars, add to that the Crimean Khanate which was an Ottoman vassal it would probably reach hundreds of wars. I didnt say dont trust Russia just because of our wars though, just in general. Politically they are not an ally you can trust.

We should learn to not be emotional and work for our best interests. As I always said, we won many wars but lost on the table. We are a nation that is very bad in foreign policy imo.
Agree.
Rational is the way to go. National interest instead of political leader personal gain. It's hard to distinguish between the national interest and leader's interest sometimes.

In past 70 years, Turkey gained quite a lot, GDP growth, economy, technology, living standard, and security. Russia on the other hand lose a lot comparing with USSR.

During Cold War, Turkey military and power can not match USSR at all. 30 years after Cold War, now Turkey is much stronger relatively.

Currently Russia is stealing eating the fruits of the Soviet Union and their gas and oil reserves. I dont see a great future for Russia tbh. I think they wont decline rapidly but they will stagnate in power. Currently have been greatly surpassed by China and we are experiencing Cold war 2.0 China vs USA.

Turkey still has about 15-20 years of constant growth or industrial development to catch up to top powers, not incl USA obviously.

Erodgan mistake was too shelve f 35 for s 400

Turkish defence Industries could have learnt alot about f35, hence improving domestic industry. The s400 is gonna be riddled with back doors. Russia is one country where as NATO is many, I rather trust the devil you know.

Never ever trust Russia. This is the case for any country. You can be allies but never trust them.

while i agree with this statement completely, i would like to add the following :

after WW2 they do have a population that needs re-growing time.. maybe even 5 generations long or more..

In the past, Japan and the US were the enemies. But now, they are brothers. This may be true for Turkey and Russia in the future.

And you will surprise when they were brother prior World War II.

How much population Turkey can sustain herself with food self-sufficiency? If Turkey can have 200 millions, Turkey can surpass Russia in long term.
