Turkish radar systems: How effective are they?

Turkey should jointly operate the Gabala early-warning radar with Azerbaijan, to be able to see most of Turkey (and its portion of the Medditerranean) till Egypt, as well as all of Iran, all of Arabian peninsula, and portion of western India/Sri Lanka. The station was built in 1986, so it's old, and equipment is Soviet/Russian, but it's certainly better than whatever Turkey has (not much).

Well i think we should develop our own system instead of using 30 years old soviet equipment.

Bro, we can't trust third party like NATO's early warning system, all we should do is to trust our own technology and alert system. Russia was the first to inform us, US/Israel shocked by this annoucement. In my opinion, it could be US to shut down NATO/Turkey's warning system to keep silences.

Since there is a little problem with this place called Syria, Nato and Israel and Turkey aren't publishing every single thing in the paper. I'm sure the Turkish military could track the missile....and knew about the launch before it even happened (they are still part of NATO). It's just that the Russians are on edge and were panicking....and were screaming to the papers,WE CAN TRACK STUFF! (US and Israel were shocked by this announcement? I'm pretty sure they were aware they had fired a missile)

You guys remember the radar US placed on Kürecik last year AN/TPY-2? Same radar sold to UAE recently perhaps we too can order it for our selves if AIPAC don't *****(which they will).

Hatay ve Şanlıurfa'da, havadan ve karadan gelecek tehditlere karşı radar ve füze sistemi kuruldu. Hatay'da Keldağı'nın zirvesine konuşlandırılan TRS-22XX Hava Savunma Radarı'nın montajı tamamlanarak testlerine geçildi. Doğu Akdeniz ve Suriye sınırının 24 saat izleneceği sistem, Suriye'den gelebilecek olası tehditleri tespit edecek. Hava savunma sistemine, Stinger füzelerinin ateşlendiği Atılgan ve Zıpkın adlı Türk yapımı füze rampaları da yerleştirildi.

TRS-22XX, ‘NATO Sınıf I’ özelliklerine sahip, elektronik faz tarama sisteminin kullanıldığı 3 Boyutlu (3B) bir Hava Savunma Radarı. Türk Mobil Radar Kompleksleri (TMRK), Hava Kuvvetleri Komutanlığı tarafından 1990’lı yılların sonlarından itibaren etkin olarak kullanılıyor.

MENZİLİ 470 KİLOMETRE

Halen Türk Hava Kuvvetleri Komutanlığı hizmetinde (14 adet) olan TRS-22XX radarı yoğun parazit ve ağır karıştırmanın uygulandığı muharebe şartlarında görev yapabilecek şekilde tasarlandı. 470 kilometre menzile sahip TRS-22XX Mobil Radarı, Türk Hava Savunma Sistemi kabiliyetinin en önemli etkenlerinden biri. Radar sistemi, hava sahasının izlenmesi, tanımlaması ve kontrolü, taktik veri haberleşmesi, karadan-havaya füze ve uçakların yönlendirilmesi görevlerini yerine getiriyor.

Bu radarların bakım, geliştirme çalışmaları, 2001'de Thales'in hisseleri alınarak Havelsan portföyüne giren Havelsan Teknoloji Radar Sanayi (HTR) tarafından gerçekleştiriliyor. HTR Radar ve alt birimleri ile çeşitli elektronik ekipmanların üretim, montaj, test ve bakım yeteneklerine sahip.

Halen HTR, 2010'dan itibaren Türkiye'de Raytheon tarafından Hawk XXI Hava Savunma Sistemi konusunda yetkilendirilmiş tek lojistik destek sağlayıcısı özelliğini taşıyor.
