Even if "Gulen is a CIA asset" I can't see how the U.S. government can prevent his extradition under the terms of the U.S.-Turkey treaty.
They will just say "We have not seen convincing proof", wait and see.

Didn't read the rest of the article when i saw this; Millions of supporters ? Really ? Did "The wall street journal" asked every Turkish citizen that if they support Gülen or not ? How can they deduce that Gülen has millions of followers within Turkey ?
The sentence means that it's Gulen's claim that he has millions of supporters, not the newspaper's.

Turkish govt. has purged how many thousand people from jobs in a matter of a couple of weeks? ~50,000

If he has 50,000 supporters worth firing, is it that much of a stretch to say someone like that would have a few million supporters? You can't on the one hand talk about how Gulen and his followers have spread into every sector of Turkey - 'parallel govt; etc etc and then be astounded that he might have millions of supporters.

millions could mean a couple of million - out of a pop of 75mil+ is it really THAT improbable?

Mr. Gulen, a moderate religious leader who counts millions of supporters in Turkey and abroad, has denied any role in the military uprising and says he is opposed to violence.

No, red part is Gulen's claim. Blue part is newspaper's claim.

No, "who counts" means it's Gulen doing the counting.

Mate.....the thing you are doing is just speculating.

And if this newspaper had prepared this article, like you; meaning based on speculations not facts. Than it's wrong and one can say that it has a biased tone against Turkey ?

And also a small hint for you,
2011 AKP votes: %49,87
2013 AKP and Gülen becames archnemesis and sworn enemies.
2015 AKP votes %49,49

if Gülen had millions of supporters, which means also voters in Turkey...how come AKP's votes only changed for %0.4 percent ?

For our eyes, western articles are extremely biased against Turkey because we know what's behind the scene....but you guys swallow all of it, easily.

No, "who counts" means it's Gulen doing the counting.
Debatable, they could have used a proper language.

And you didn't answered my question regarding Russia visit.

Turkish guys;

Stratfor knowing this is also interesting...president didn't used his official tail number but THY8456, THY means Turkish Airlines, he disguised himself as a civilian airliner to not been shot by the coup F-16s.....but how did stratfor knew this...

And another interesting development;
Graham Fuller, former vice CIA chairman, whitewashes Gülen, man behind Turkey's failed coup

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
President's adviser Cemil Ertem says there is strong evidence that Graham Fuller was in Turkey during the coup and fled the country in illegal ways after the coup has been failed.

They will just say "We have not seen convincing proof", wait and see.
Or maybe Gulen is innocent and the coup plotters were just pretending to be his followers to pull in his supporters during the coup or deflect their own culpability after it failed.

This guy is innocent? Video from 1998:

A good comment from that video
"Turkish government should send this video to the US government as a proof supplement. Clearly the intention of this cancerous organization is nothing but shady and dangerous. If the US government does not send Gulen to Turkey, then it's clearly because they are using Gulen for their own interest (e.g. silencing, framing and overthrowing unwanted politicians and governments, like the recent Gulen orchestrated coup) in Turkey. Gulen gets to have power in Turkish politics, judiciary, police, army, education etc. while the US will have a loyal soulless NATO base with no foreign policy and critique on the US, EU and Israel and their policies. Win-win for both Gulen and the US, so i wont be surprised if the US does not post Gulen back despite all evidence!"

I will leave my comment to the final decision of US goverment regarding Gülen, though i dont believe they will extradite him.

Innocent of plotting this coup is what I meant.

Turkey on Wednesday ordered the closure of scores of media outlets and said it was discharging 149 generals in the latest phase of its controversial crackdown in the wake of a failed coup.
According to a government decree published in Turkey's official gazette, the closure involves three news agencies, 16 television stations, 23 radio stations, 45 newspapers, 15 magazines and 29 publishers.

Confirming the decree, a Turkish official said the discharged army generals included 87 in the land army, 30 from the air force and 32 admirals.

Private broadcaster CNN Turk said a total of 1,684 military personnel had been discharged since the failed July 15-6 coup.

The moves are likely to further raise concern among rights groups and Turkey's Western allies about the extent of the purge ordered by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkey declared a three-month state of emergency and detained more than 13,000 people in the military, judiciary and other institutions following the foiled coup.

Under the state of emergency, Turkish authorities can hold suspects in detention without charge for up to 30 days before they are taken to a judge to decide whether to remand them in custody.

In an interview with FRANCE 24 last Saturday, Erdogan said the emergency powers were necessary to cure his country of “separatist terrorist organisations”, which he likened to a “cancer”.

But the wave of arrests has alarmed Turkey’s NATO allies and European leaders, amid fears the Turkish president may be exploiting the fallout from the failed to coup to crack down on dissenting voices.
