You were clearly dropped on your head. Most professional militaries use hands free communication devises that are on a secure Channel. Waki tokis use unsecured channels where anyone can listen to radio chatter.

The guys in your posts are army commando's, not special forces.
And our guys, whether it is sf or army have always had a bit crappy equipment. Turkish SF looked like your average private compared to Western SF. Only in recent years did their looks become a bit better in terms of pr.

If you're talking about the Russian soldiers, those guys are KSO Spetsnaz (literally meaning special forces/purpose). Those images are from a video where their commander is interviewed.

Commando is usually used to refer to army commando brigades, they have core professional troops but still accept conscripts. They're part of land forces and often rotate to s.east for coin. Ofc if they're older/senior they can have more niche specifications etc but they're not special forces. It's just media making mistakes.

Special forces have been deployed and seen sometimes in pictures but unclear how/what. So the troops attacking Al-Bab were regular commando's with a number of embedded SF.

I think it would be like saying VDV Paratroopers is the same as KSO/Spetsnaz. But I don't know if it is good comparison.

There are certainly more casualties then 35. They oftenly lie about casualties on PKK front, why wouldnt they do the same in this?

We have since 2003 Digital-Tetra standard in use at Bundeswehr.
It is a nightmare for own position location, lacks compatibility and interoperability with some other systems.
Turkish Special Forces made a good job in Afghanistan.Leopard fiasco at Al-Bab was no surprise for me.
In Afghanistan we had the option to airlift Leopards to our base Camp Marmal within the SALIS program;
but we decided to transport PzH2000 and use only high mobile IFVs and MRAPs,
with rapid close air support.

Commandos in Turkey are soldiers who receive special training for counter terrorism operations in mountainous terrain.

Special forces are the Maroon Berets who are used like Green berets to work with local forces etc. The Maroon berets are also trained for mountain warfare and sometime go on high risk hunting trips.

The SAT/SAS are navy seals.

The commandos in Al-Bab are from an Airborne brigade, they are like Russian VDV except for the heavy equipment (light tanks etc.)

We should create a new brigade specifically for urban warfare operations.

That is only a part of it. Russia's success and very low casualties is the fact that Russia uses a lot of surveillance drones and gathers a lot of intelligence from ELINT and captured/dead militants. Moreover special forces are used properly unlike Turkey which uses soldiers that are supposedly "special forces" but poorly equippes them and orders them to follow around tanks.


Without being arrogant our guys have ATGMs, night vision, laser rang finders, body armor, and some of the finest weapons with several thousand dollars in upgrades and they are either quietly inserted by helicopter or parachute at night.

And I notice a waki taki, which is unbelievable because the enemy can tune in to the same channel and listen. Russian soldiers use encrypted head set radios.

Turkey uses some very good tanks but in my opinion not wisely. It would be better to operate those tanks at night and set up well defended areas by day.

I think we should scrap a good amount of the exercises were a currently doing and replace them with more modern scenarios, no need to waste money on an exercise where you counter a Soviet invasion from the East during winter time with M-48 tanks.

In the 21.century you can't hide casualties and losses. The social media is too strong.
You can count the numbers at your own 2+2 =4 and not 2.
Be sure your brave soldiers will gain a great victory in Syria against all terrorists and revenge for the cruelties.
Keep secular, as we are and reorganize your Forces.
Education and training is much more worth then polished special high tech.
I missed an Imam during my duty, but we are crusaders. We had priests and pastors. They were fair.

Isn't 3.commando brigade not specialized in urban warfare ?

You have airborne commando brigade 1 in Kayseri comparable with our LLBrig 1
You have mountain commando brigade 2 in Bolu comparable with our GebJgBrig 23
Siirt located commando brigade 3 specialized for urban warfare ?
Tunceli located commando brigade 4 - mixed conscripts and professional soldiers
Hakkari located brigade 5 former part of Bolu mountain brigade

Military Police commando brigade in Sirnak, comparable with our FJgRgt 3

And the famous Maroon Berets at Corps level comparable with our KSK, what is for my opinion not realistic,
KSK is at brigade level as actually Maroons are too.

Remember the suspicious traffic accident that 2009 killed your Colonel Sungur in Afghanistan.
From that time we knew that negative transformation happened within Turkish Forces.

You know why Russian air force drop bombs like rain because Their Air force dont hit the target sensitivly and Civilian deat is not important for Russia .Russian air force is so bad from air to surface sheeling.Their own guided bomb cant hit the target so They are using many classical bomb and killing many civilians.Plese dont compare Turaf and Raf.Russia is making only propaganda.They sent their air carrier which histroical artifacts with showing off and two aircraft falled in two weeks.Maybe Turaf is number one from Air to surface sheeling.

Turkey has minumum casualties across to işid.Look at the Irak army their casulities almost six thousand.

The M-60 Sabra is the only tank in Turkey's arsenal that has modern armor, to withstand ATGM hits.
The Leopard 2A4 is the vintage version.
That couldn't possibly be true could it? An upgraded 1960's era tank with add on armor is more survivable than a more modern design? Leadership and vision counts on the battlefield.

Forget the old NATO handbooks.
