Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

I really don't know what to make of this. I don't want our soldiers and brave men killed for Syria.

Maybe IS propaganda. But could be true, since we just give 5 Şehit and 15 wounded (reported by media). If they included wounded into casualty, 200 is possible since if we give 20 casualty, FSA would give more than hundred.

They are not dying for Syria, they are fighting terror across the border. Compare this operation to Operation Sun conducted in Northern Iraq. We are denying PYD corridor and Daesh direct access to our border. The only way to beat PKK and ISIS is across the border and internal police raids.

They have be denied recruiting and basing areas.

Those VBIEDs are deadly especially if troops and vehicles are grouped close together.

Northern Syria should become Turkish then - least until we eliminate PKK.

How the hell they could lose a hill -which is basically a natural defensive position- while having all that air and artillery support? This whole operation is full of incompetency.

Air support is limited or non existent I believe. Syrian air defence and this isn't a one time operation, our air force has to conduct operations constantly. I don't know what's going on exactly but I think Al bab will be taken soon.

There hasnt been a single proper military achievement since the start of this operation. Only real chalenge was Tell Abyad and Al-Bab. First one failed miserably and the second one isnt going on very well. Al-Bab will be probably taken but it will take time and many casualties. First target at the start was Manbij and looking at it we are not even close to this goal. Worst part is they will showcase the operation like it was some kind of magnificient conquest and public will buy it.

It's not a failure albab is isis stronghold, they will not let it go easily, but let me be a little bit critical why don't the turkish army use some uav with flir cameras detect their location and kill those bastards at night by shelling their places no need to use guided missiles, you could also use their own tactics on them using some remote controlled cheap car as a VBIED at night send like hundreds of remote controlled ones on them and see how they enjoy their own cowwardly game

It's not two month they just arrived few days ago at al bab and you have no idea of the tactics isis use, ask those who stopped the operations in mosul today while having the whole nato coalitions air power with them and thousands upon thousands of fighters while Euphrates shield have hundreds of fighters and more than half are not well trained and having a single nato country air power by their side so yeah, if you take all that into consideration they are doing quite well

The operation has been going on for two months, on the vicinity of al-Bab.

Don't compare a city of nearly 2 million people (Mosul) with a city of the size a small Turkish city with no more than a pre-war population of 140.000. Also, Turkey has a well-equipped and NATO-trained army. The Iraqi army on the other hand has been plagued by widespread corruption and desertion, while its soldiers are poorly trained.

The operation has been nothing but a disaster and embarrassment thus far.

Dont compare the siege of Al-Bab, which is being enforced by only about 1000 rebels to the siege of Mosul in which around 35-40.000 Iraqi soldiers are participating in. Its been 45 days by the way.
