Every Political entity is fighting for his survival... Therefore as long as the people stay on board... all good... but when Oppositions in opinions happen and grow... that same political entity will shift to maintain a status quo... the problem... is what we see today... But for what, it seems no objective was secured because YPG have just gone under Assad and continue to do car bombings & attacks on a weekly basis. Also Russia has established new bases on the border, it seems to have gone backwards for Turkey’s interests.

weekly? there are multiple bombings and incidents daily.

Maybe Russia gave promises, Syrian regime always maintained their policy that they want to recover all territory of Syria. Iran might have given promises but Syria doesn't need Iran's approval, you may disagree and call Syria's regime Iran's bitch but by de-juro they don't fall under Iran.

Also everyone is a liar in governments, Erdogan is a big one. Kurds are the biggest fuckers though, they will shit on our entire region whilst drinking beer with the white man. A true punishment awaits for the Kurdish nationalists.

ASSAd is a shell... same for Syria... Russia is the one calling the game. And Iran is mostly out of it, at least for the forefront military forces. If Russia say No... ASSad follow...

They could have followed in their OP against the PKK/YPG and co... and the world will have just stayed still while watching... even Russia wouldn't have moved... But Nah... they decided to say yes to meetings... and now we've got the result...

But why not continue the operation once you have started, why end it halfway once you have taken all the hits from sanction threats & blowback. All for a promise by the Russians, who will obviously always look after their interest.
