ANKARA

Students at a university in Pakistan performed a special prayer Tuesday for the victory of the Turkish military in its ongoing operation in northwestern Syria.

Turkey’s Yunus Emre Institute, which was the co-organizer of the prayer event at the University of the Punjab in Pakistan’s Lahore city, said in a written statement that the prayer session was followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.

Along with the university students, teachers and officials of Yunus Emre Institute in Pakistan also attended the event.

Turkey on Saturday launched Operation Olive Branch to remove the PYD/PKK and Daesh terrorists from the northwestern Syrian city of Afrin.

According to the Turkish General Staff, the ongoing operation aims to establish security and stability along Turkey’s borders and the region as well as to protect Syrians from the oppression and cruelty of terrorists.

The operation is being carried out under the framework of Turkey’s rights based on international law, UN Security Council resolutions, its self-defense rights under the UN Charter and respect for Syria's territorial integrity, it said.

The military also said the "utmost importance" is being put on not harming civilians.

Afrin has been a major hideout for the PYD/PKK since July 2012 when the regime of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad left the city to the terror group without putting up a fight.

A tactical victory is certain for Turkey. No doubt about it.

But Turkey needs a Strategic Victory now.

Otherwise, Turks will be bogged down in the Syrian quagmine.

At the moment Turkish government enjoys full support of Turkish population. A quick and decisive victory needs to be the goal.

@cabatli_53 @Combat-Master @Vord @HAKIKAT my friends what are the strategic objectives of this operation?

1- Is the Turkish state prepared for the terror attacks in the Turkish heartland?!!!

2- Your logistics are in a fine shape... but how long can Turkish armed forces can sustain this operation?

3- How is Iran and Iraq equation in this? Can they be fully trusted?

4- Sochi is a go. What is Turkish postion on the Russian Peace Plan?

5- Russia wants to keep Kurds in its sphere of influence. What can you expect from them?

The best option is to create a vast buffer zone and create safe conditions for the Syrians in Turkey to return home... create a mix population in the Syrian kurdis area...change the demographics once and for all.

This problem needs a permanent solution now. Especially the changing global geopolitical environment is condusive now....

Anything less than strategic victory will cost Turkey a lot in the Future. Be decisive and achieve strategic victory!!!

@Vergennes my friend your professional reading of the outcomes would be nice to have!

A YPG fighter blew herself up next to a Turkish tank. First kamikaze attack against the Turkish army since the beginning of operations in Afrin.

The Turks should be careful about kamikaze attacks or even possibly used VBIEDs. Modus operandi already used by ISIS which proved to be successful (and deadly) against Iraqi forces, but also Turkish forces during the operation for Al-Bab.

Disgusting how westeners are praising her for her terror act. These people are double faced devils. When it happens to them they expect solidarity when it happens to others they cheer it on.

They praise that suicide bombing fcking double faced you know who

I read some of the comments under a post you can smell the hate for turks through the internet from those people. And as long as other europeans don't step up and clean their own countries from pkk supporters, networks and propaganda I won't have one bit of pity for them and sure as hell won't see these people as "allies". They can go f*** themselves.

ps: She most likely blew herself up with a grenade which won't even scratch a tank. Even if she blew herself up, could just be a lie as there is nothing from FSA or Turkish sources. The pkk is well known for their lies of "women blowing themselves up after fighting until the end because they didn't want to get caught". They most likely killed her themselves after she tried to defect and lied.

Their tactics on the ground are very identical to the ISIS that even they(PKK-affiliated USA ally YPG/SDF terrorists) use manipulative drugs before the fight, here is a footage taken today.

Are you surprised? Do you think ISIS has evaporated? U.S has transported a large amount of ISIS terrorists to YPG points via a secure corridor. ISIS has been transferring their knowledge of asymmetric warfare to YPG terrorists since that day. They are fighting together agains Turkey and FSA.

I sum up simply, operation is planned on minimum civil casulties, slow and steady move. It's going according to plan.

1- We already are an ongoing fight against terrorism in Turkey for decades, you know ..
2- This is a limited operation but Turkish Army can keep rolling for years at anywhere our borders.
3- Iran pro-Assad just like Russia.
4- Turkish position on Syria is an Assad-free Syria and no PKK and its affilities anywhere close to our borders.
5- Russians lost Kurds when they opened airspace for us.

Watch this.

LOL My friend welcome to the world. Terrorist that don't attack European and western countries are support by the west. The west like only Muslim killing terrorist. Pakistan has gone through this for a long time and we know the reality very well.

Countries like Germany,France will be getting fucked over the next decade and two. They hoped if they support pkk they will be able to carve something out and most radical facists pkk supporters in those countries will leave to "Kurdistan". But that isn't happening. Turkey will never allow it. Now they have millions of kurds who have been radicalised, a terror org. that has spread like a disease on their streets selling drugs, weapons, woman attacking their police while they turned a blind eye to it because they didn't want to spend the time to combat it. Now those pkk supporters will start blowing themselves up in their streets. They already threatened to attack germans on the street. Lets see how europe is going to handle 4-6 million pkk supporters in its streets.

And suddenly pkk will be a terror org. that has to be eliminated at all costs.

Oh my friend you are very wrong. No one gives a shit about Germany the people who are actually running Germany want it to be a breeding ground for their war.

In a nutshell, Turkey's long term strategy is to offer an alternative model to the folks in the region - from the Adriatic to the borders of China. Folks don't need to be in a permanent state of conflicts and sorrows - as per the design of outsiders - but can live in cooperation and peace and fun!!!! Incidentally, OBOR has many similar elements!!! With the continuous receeding of the US power and prestige this can become a viable reality....

Kamikaze attacks is the equivalent of "Air strikes"... Any entity who do not have that support will use it as one...
