This is because Kurds are calling in airstrikes through laser designation and radio contact. As opposed to Mosul where Arab forces were liberating their fellow people the Kurds view all Arabs as IS, they literally have no problem calling in airstrikes on civillians.

You give some Kurdish nationalists power and you get this. The number of such incidents have been far higher in Syria during YPG ops as opposed to US-led airstrike incidents in Iraq.
