So, 3 days left for operation..
Edit: Ups, he says "after Ramadan Holiday", not "after Ramadan". So 6 days left.
will it be just tel rifat or all of afrin?
Afrin was a predominantly Kurdish city. Since the Syrian civil war has started thousands of ethnically Arab refugees arrived in the city. Today its demographic composition is more mixed than it was before. That's one of the reasons why PYD forbid the Kurdish citizens to leave the region for Europe last year. They even threatened people to confiscate their properties if they leave without permission from YPG.Probably only Tel-Rıfat since Afrin is mostly a Kurdish city we won't touch it for now.
We should, however, encircle and besiege Afrin in order to prevent terrorist attacks on Turkish border towns from that area.
I dont think the locals are going to be happy about turkish soldiers in Afrin. In the first phase we must capture Tal Rifat and after that give a strong masage about any activity that is threatening to the national security and/or the national interests of Turkey. If they dont stay still and are doing problems then this is a perfect justification of large scale operation targeting Afrin. It will be a difficult task to control the city after being captured but for this purpose we can do the same as them. We can send arab and turkmen refugees in Afrin and starting some propaganda and "nice looking" activites like opening school or something like that in order to take the hearts and minds of the local people. Any cells that would be active in the new captured land must be taken out with power responding to the threat it is. If there is just little groups of teens for example that are supporting the ideology they must be arrested and be shown that its not good but given chance. Comments must be on camera for TRT World and a nice indian accent guy must be saying how good we are . For the armed groups we must give the hardest answers in order to give them fear. Its something like the relationship with Allah. You fear from his punishment and you love him for what he gives you. The fear and the love is doing the task. At the end everyone is happy.Afrin was a predominantly Kurdish city. Since the Syrian civil war has started thousands of ethnically Arab refugees arrived in the city. Having said that, some people here should adopt a more realistic point of view. Liberating Afrin will be a bigger task than the whole ES op. It will take months. However, only an ongoing successful op will distract the FSA rebels from being at each other's throat. If Russia really blocks US airplanes, Afrin is definitely lost for YPG.
