Deep Sea Metro-II, a 230m length drilling monster, is expected to be in Turkey in last day of 2017. She was purchased by TPAO worth around 200 million $. In first quarter of 2018, Deep sea Metro-2 will start drilling TPAO licenced places near Cyprus, While Greeks are screaming for help.

Ship will be repainted with TPAO colours similar to Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa seismic vessel, then renamed.

Let’s hope for something big to pop up in the Mediterranean and Black sea soon. Imagine a Turkey with huge natural gas and oil reserves it exploits... :victory:
On one side it would be great but on the other side there is a chance to end up like most ressource rich countries to be dependant on energy exports.
Ideal would be a situation like Norway where the revenues get used for a sustainable economy.

We'd need different leadership for that.
And different mentality, with arch angel azrael to cut off the heads when they try to deviate from it too.

Hortum, boru silip supururler herseyi.

Why order a drilling ship worth $200M if they haven't found economically useful oil/gas reserves? AFAIK, seismic ships are enough for searching for oil/gas. There's no need for a drilling ship for that anymore. Can someone with more knowledge of the oil&gas industry please shed some light?

I dont know much but first you use the seismic ship and locate potential reserves and than you do some drilling for a proper assessment.

We have discovered smaller wells in the black sea but nothing important so far.

Deep-sea drilling is a key step in protecting waters
Showing FLAG and presence. METRO II will go for drilling in same area in 2018

+ Norway is the 8th largest producer of oil and the 3rd largest producer of gas in the world
Thats the point, and yet its a mixed economy which oil revenues make only 17% of national GDP.

The Labour productivity level of Norway is second highest in Europe. OECD, 2015
