Turkish Naval Programs

Actually in this project (Barbaros Mid Life Upgrade) Turkish Navy Turning Barbaros class to Light Air defence frigate.



How ?



İn this project we will see three diffrent radar which makes a same mission like çafrad radars.



Smart-s Mk2 = S band Long range radar like Umr = 250+ km

Mar-d = X band multi mission radar like Çfr = 100+ km

Akr-D Block-2 = X band İllumunation radar like Ayr = 120 km



Our barbaros class have 16 cell tacticl vls unlike oruçreis he have 8 cell but I hope he rise his capability to 16 .

İf we make a Siper missile fitable this vls. So if he same like aster-30 he can fit.



So



This ships can carry 8x Siper Long range and 32 Essm load. Okey thats low but we have same capability in İ class. A fleet can incude 2 meko or i class can resist any naval threat aircraft.



A fleet include 1 i class, 1 barbaros and 1 moded G class means :



96 Essm

16 Siper



We can hunt a one fleet harpoon or exoceet strike wing with just one fleet.



But this is a worst scenario



İf we want a add extra 8x vls to barbaros class he have enough space aft or front (behalf of front ciws)









On the other hand we can enlarge i class front vls or add extra 8 cell vls behalf of 8 cell atmaca launcher of 16.

Since F-35 project is dead ATM i dont think there is any rush to get second one soon.That money can be used for many other important projects.
 
Actually, its not a new situation, expansion activities at the Alaybey has already been going on for 3 years. The new floating drydock is also being put into service in December. A number of maintenance and repair activities at the Pendik shipyard will be shifted to Izmir.

In addition, the construction of a new military shipyard in the Mediterranean is being evaluated. ASFAT's shipyards will expand considerably.

Department of General Directorate of Shipyards Deputy Admiral Mehmet SARI talked about Shipyards and Alaybey: "Under the new type of submarine project Gölcük shipyard has gained a lot of opportunity.
We supply floating pools because our pools are old. We especially consider this as the shipyard in Izmir. We want to close the gap in the Aegean region by converting the Gölcük shipyard to a national submarine and İzmir to a construction shipyard.
In addition, in accordance with the recommendation of the National Security Council in the Eastern Mediterranean, the General Directorate of Shipyards is now working with the security committee at the port plus the shipyard, where we will gain a good ability because we have a lot of warships there. "

Wow thats good. other 2 floating dock will same like 10.000 tones. So if hers 10.000 tonnes docks, its will be big probaply asfat 170 meter+ 10000 tonnes docks who clearly tf-2000 type ships can buildable clearly.

3 tf-2000 buildable in same time just wow.

Way more funds need to be diverted into the naval ecosyst... and fast...
Private sector should be more involved...
 
If most of commercial shipyards are located around marmara sea, there should be an obvious reason for not shifting the building activities to mediterrenean and aegen seas.
Whereas, we need strong and capable maintenance shipyards in the aegean and mediterrenean region for obvious reason.
All production of surface combatants should take place in marmara sea, it is not naive to shift building activities to new regions while there are safe and sound places where you can build and test your ships hidden and unseen. Aegean is obviously on the skirts of greece, mediterrenean is a hot region where bunch of nuclear submarines and carrier groups are patrolling. Moreover, there are strong building facilities which can be expanded and strengthened by installation of equipments . Pendik shipyard has great lands and bays and its capacity has not been fully realized.
There is a reason why istanbul was too precious in ancient times besides of being a trade center, it was safe and unaccessible. This would be dumbest action to cancel production of surface combatants from marmara region and shift them to aegean. Or it would be in another words, "i want some building and subcontractor companies to make money, and privatize&sell the valuable military regions in pendik. "
Privatization of pendik shipyard or selling its land for construction of towers has been the hot topic since the coupt attempt, there has been admirals who have resisted and prevented that from happening. They were aware of what i mentioned above, marmara sea is safe as hell both politically, strategically and also has perfect waves where you can conduct tests almost anytime. Now assumes that greece could track our building activities just by uavs strolling in their airspace, and how and through which route we will take those ships onto test runs in aegean.
In the end we can just hope but can not do anything else, that they were expanding those shipyards just for increase in maintenance capacity and relieveing the load on pendik shipyard so that they can focus on production of new ships which we need immediately.

It's a shame... When it was the point of discussion years and years ago... I remember when ppl will make fun of Navy "Over-Dev projects" in regards to Land forces...
You have more types of land forces vehicles that you can count with each having 2-3 competitors with the same product... a waste of money... but driven by that "Export" hope... as if it's an endless market that will always favor them...

Anyway, Inshallah things get better... even if... some may say... it's too late... if things get out of hand soon.

On the other hand there are shipyards whom only cares about the money and profit and they are whom who handles the projects which involves basic building activities and we dont need to name them.

Enforcing Defense companies to fund "Public-Private" Shipyards with the possibility for tax cuts may be a stop gap for now?
Since as of now... you can't really force the private sector to invest in that risky area without something in return...
AND the scent of a full out war that could push for National compromise/mobilisation isn't in the minds of ppl either...

You can force them into that, actually it is simple. They can foresee the future projects and their current situation isnt promisin, so once they can see it will be at least profitable within 5-10 years then they might jump in.
Since what happened at RMK and Milgem deal, the private shipyards hesitates to sign a big deal unless they are close to the government.
