There is no "Mehmetçik 1" it was BS the guy in the picture(Kırıkkale governor) is literally holding the HK416(bought from H&K itself) and calling it a different name

We are designing MPT, basing it on HK416 which is based on ColtM4/AR15. Only G36's gas-piston technology used on HK416 will be licenced from H&K. Please read the forum before asking clueless questions next time.

Nope, as for now we have 7.62x51, 7.62x53R, 7.62x39, 5.56x45 and for snipers .338 lapua ammo types. Logistics in this area is already a mess, adding another ammo to the inventory is the last thing we need.

I understand the advantages of 6.5 grendel and 6.8 spc rounds but first we need to catch-up with the world, our light-arms industry is so far behind.

First it was a 5.56mm rifle but in 05.12.2008 has been revised to be a 7.62mm rifle.

After which project has two design stages.

Stage 1: designing and production of 50 automatic rifles of prototypes A and B. The products should satisfy the Technical Data Package requirements.

Stage 2: As an option, developing other versions while making production line qualification.

Prototype A has been developed and tested. Prototype B is still under test and development.

KALEKALIP has joined the project to fulfill the design stage 2.

I'm not very happy with the choice of design either but we won't produce MPT under licence except the gas-piston system in it.

Why is that? Because HK416/417 are clones of M4/M16 family of rifles, so HK has no legal rights over the design.

It won't make sense to have an ACR for replacing a battle rifle. They seem fine with a single caliber for now.

3 Temmuz 2011’de üretime başlandığı, 2012 yılı başlarında ise kullanılmaya başlanacağı açıklanan ancak henüz hiçbir birliğe dağıtılmadığı için adeta yılan hikayesine dönen yüzde 100 yerli “Mehmetçik - 1” piyade tüfeğiyle ilgili detaylar ortaya çıkmaya başladı. VATAN’a konuşan Savunma Sanayii Müsteşarı Murad Bayar, “Milli piyade tüfeğinde ilk prototiplerimizin testleri olumlu. Şimdi bir set daha tüfek üretiyoruz. Onları da bir teste tabi tutacağız. Onların da sonuçları olumlu çıkarsa üretime geçeceğiz” dedi.

Gecikmeli tüfek projesiyle ilgili bir çok iddia ortaya atılmıştı. 3 adet örneği üretilen tüfeğin “Alman malı HK-416”ya benzediği ve Alman Heckler & Koch firmasının konuya müdahil olarak bu konuda lisans alınması zorunluluğunu dile getirdiği iddia edilmişti. Bayar, “Zaten şu anda tüfeğimiz bilinmiyor. Hiçbir yerde gösterilmedi. Bu iddialar doğru değil” diye konuştu.

Namlu ömrü 10 bin atım

TSK tarafından kullanılan G3’lerin yerini alması planlanan modern piyade tüfeğinin, dünyada kullanılan üçüncü jenerasyon piyade tüfeklerinin en iyi özelliklerini üzerinde toplaması amaçlanıyor. Tüfeğin üzerine gece görüş dürbünü, ışıldak, laser, bomba atar gibi aksesuarlar takılabilmesi hedefleniyor. Namlu ömrü minimum 10 bin atım olarak tasarlanacak tüfek, tek ve seri atışlar yapabilecek. Mehmetçik 1’in G3’lere göre boyunun daha kısa olması bekleniyor.

Do you know what the life of other newly designed rifles are?

Is it also safe to assume that barrels for 7.62 will have less life than 5.56 cartridges, because of the heat production of larger cartridges?
