But its never been the main threat, there is always a possibilty to fight a conventional war. During cold war, Turkey were the most strategical base of NATO. But the embargo after 1974 Cyprus war made us start our defence industry, firstly Aselsan have founded. First products of Aselsan were radios, today all products of Aselsan are completely indigenous...
What im saying is; this is a very long way. be patient my friend...
Ur fighting a low intensity war with militants livng in northern iraq...we are fighting an enemy tht whole World+ NATO couldnt destrot since a decade.....they are attacking our cities indirectly destroying our economy.Now these factors arent present in turkey.
When turkey was freed it still had industrial zones etc...when Pakistan was freed we had no industry no schools no universities....
We barely had 1 jute mill,1 textile mill and only 1 university.....even those were in shambles...we had no papers in offices no furniture nothing...we didnt inherit military assets..the few we did were f..ked up and came from burma(ww2 ) ancient relics....
We had british and american military assets in 65?they embargoed us...again same happened in 71?.....then again we were embargoed for more then a decade after 98?....we barely had 1 billion$ reserves,,,,,to survive for a decade? still we did good ..we started our indigenous agency....tanks,apc,armoured vehicles,missile boats,cruisemissiles and started our JF-17 project....
..our economy which was 7-8% regular till 2007 the best in asia ....south koreans came to visit for tips to improve there economy......was destroyed by talibs.....no foriegn investment nothing? still we are doing a good job.....A full scale is waging in our north.....
These factors we dont see in turkey.
But ultimately we will overcome this ..Inshallah...May God be with us.
