Obama and his red lines made sure that ideology got its ''followers'' in Iraq and Syria because of the lack of choice.
What else could the Sunni's(yes sectarian) but to join the only group able to fight Assad and the exclusive government in Iraq?

BS.....A truly national group in Syria would have gotten much more Western support but there isn't such a group.Even when they were faking it back in 2012 their gatherings echoed "death to Amerika" chants.No wonder that such loosers didn't get full support,altough they got much more than they deserved.

Big BS,there was a real moderate national group the FSA which was promissed support by the west,it got nothing so most of its members were forced to leave for the powerful fighting groups like al-Nusra,al-Caida and whatever the names,ISIS was formed from some of these groups.
Its the fault of the west and its loose promisses and lies.
