They should have fill up their reservoirs as Turkey advised them, for what the Iraqis decided last week they don't even deserve a sip of water.

what'd they decide last week

Ah I see

Baghad's retarded government finally realized that their own population can be made to produce things like salt, tomatoes and sugar so they put a stop to importing that. Which is excellent news of course which you would also all know if you used your brain. Why import that when you can make it yourself? Basic economics is getting you mad?

Yes close the border let relations soar and have exports drop to 0, Iran will love it.

It already is Iran that wins from all that because your government put an embargo only against Turkish producers not on Iranian ones. Though it’s quite normal because Iran controls your country anyways so you can’t even fart without the permission of the Ayatollah.

Good luck in creating some basic industry though. Hope you import your water from Iran too when we turn the tap down. :D

As for Iran: Iraq Reduces Imports From Iran By 45 Percent

Iraq would do better under Tehran rule, Ayatollah Khamenei controls us and we will follow the orders of Khamenei, if need be we'll take you over as well. The Safavids are coming for you

.

OK.
I hope you guys like the taste of Dinosaur Juice (Oil).

Last time the Safavids came they lost Iraq to us :enjoy:

All that shit can be produced locally as Iraq did decades ago before all these wars. You're acting like we can't produce, few decades ago the country was ahead of others in the region in many fields.

As for water, water desalinization plants.

Safavid Iraq is spawning a million people per year and we will export to Turkey, to northern Iraq. Allahu akbar

How the government takes care of this is absolutley hurting the interests and future of Turks given the enviormental changes in the world in the next few decades.

Also, Iraq cannot demand ''free of charege'' water when she sells us another natural resource oil and hosts terrorists at the same time. The EU supports this policy of the current government in Turkey is because of mass immigrants.

In sum, everbody else seeks for their own interests; but the current government in Turkey.

Ma friend, nothing come free in geopolitics. Smart foreign policy doesnt rely on love, shared history and so on, those are soft power intruments and can come handy, but w/0 making yourself (country) indispensible to your counterpart you are courting in pursuing its own interests, soft power will not get you much. Sure, Turkey may offer its expertise and help in this sector, but it also seeks by moves like this to deepen its ties with Baghdad, project certain postive/trusting image to the gov and wider political elite and the ppl, and also makes sure that this issue doesnt became a catalist which it certanly has a potential to be if not resolved for a disaster in terms of Iraqi stability, which isnt in Turkish interest. In hardly serves Turkey for Iraq to become a failed state, or find itself in another civilit war, or major unrest in which gruops like ISIS and PKK thrive. They didnt try to blow up oil pipline close to Mosul which connects with Turkey the other day for the hack of it, but to undermine economic-social turkey-iraq relations. Iraq needs that pipline, so does Turkey, its a great showcase how such projects reap benefits for both. You v seen in recent months Iraq isupport for turkish opps, even younger Barzani and his party slammed PKK in public.. There are a lots of things that go into such decision, diplomacy and common sense is the first choice... this is not school yard shit, where nuance, diplomacy, strategic thinking ahead, isnt tool in the box.

on the mashriq front, some interesting stuff

Libya has outsized importance for Turkey's Mediterranean plans

https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/or...-libya-means-beyond-a-country-for-ankara.html

yes, I know its Al Monitor, and they had their share of lousy, missed and questioneble contributors. But this one is I think on point. Ignore islamist and other thropes. gist of it is on point. So, besides doing whats is right, supporting UN recognized gov - which was btw prepairing itself for UN sponspored peace talks when the offensive started - against a wanabe dictator like Haftar is moral thing to do. There is also more political and military dimension for the support.

@Bismarck I know you were suspicious of that claim when it came about recently. But after the fog is clearing, those claims about French active participation un Tripoli offensive and their backing of a fucking warlord dont look so shady now.

France foreign policy is indeed very disturbing. France relationship to militaty dictators is an issue in EU. We try to discuss this internally , but the dispute between France and Italy about that issue brought it into public. To be honest, France foreign policy is really worse, especially in Africa.

I have read the opposite. So which is right?

Indeed, I cant agree more @Bismarck
And its almost unchange since colonial days. You have an impression that the French never really left their colonies be independent. Evearybody is so focused on the US and their blunders with propping up dictators and making the bad situation worse. But rearly does France get such atention and their role in Africa esspecialy. How many ppl know of French involment in Ruwanda **** up which ended in genocide. Or their role in propping up Niger dictator for 40 years, or their role in Burkinaq Faso and assasination of Thomas Sankara? How many ppl know for its Afrikan Frank scheme in western africa? Also, as a Bosnian, I can tell you that the French state at the time played very dirty game against us on many levels. their fucking president had the audacity to come to besigied Sarajevo and tell Izetbegovic that we, as a muslims, are anomaly, not natural to Europe, remnence of Turkish rule, not white enough I guess.

If you havent seen it this is great, short, video about African Frank scheme, which shows that these countries are in the best case semi-independent. and that its not France who feeds Africa, but its more likely the other way around

Im all for Germany to take the lead of EU. But, you will need to make you military match that of France, or suprass it.
