Turkish Defence Industry Exports & Updates

Bangladesh army selects Turkish Hisar-O air defence system
mrsam-1.jpg

The Bangladesh Army is set to become the rst export customer outside the Turkish Armed Forces to purchase the Hisar-O Medium Range Air Defence System (MRSAM) to defend areas as well as provide point defence.

Developed by Aselsan and Roketsan the Hisar air defence missile systems come in two variants at present, namely the short range HisarA, which has a maximum slant range of 15 km and a maximum altitude of 5 km. The Hisar-O Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile system on the other hand has a maximum altitude of 15 km and a maximum range of over 25 km. It is mounted on a Mercedes-Benz Zetros chassis.

Both systems are vertically launched and have a 360⁰ coverage.

The missile itself features dual stage rocket motor with midcourse guidance having IIR seeker.

The Hisar air defence system is designed to destroy ghter aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.

During ring test the Hisar-A scored a 100% hit rate against a target aircraft ying at high altitude. The Hisar-A is to be delivered to the Turkish Land Forces by 2021 with Hisar-O deliveries following in 2022.

The Bangladesh Army categorises the Hisar-O as a MRSAM with medium range systems having a range between 10 to 30 km and long range systems beyond 30 km.

HISAR-O is organised in battalion level and consists of battalion level Fire Control Centre (Battalion FCC), battalion level Radar, three HISAR-O Batteries, Tactical Data Link Connection System and Support Vehicles. Battalion FCC produces Integrated Air Picture using track information provided by battalion level Radar and Air Defence Batteries in the Battalion, performs threat evaluation and assignment for batteries.

One HISAR-O Battery consists of battery level FCC, battery level Radar, Electro-Optical System and Missile Launching Systems.

HISAR-O Battery has the capability of target detection, tracking, identication and performing command & control and re control functions autonomously.

HISAR-O Medium Range Air Defence Missile System is state of the art technology and has open HW&SW architecture for utilising future technology.

Air defence artillery undergoes modernisation

The Bangladesh Army is also purchasing two Thales Ground Master 400 air surveillance radar systems. The air defence artillery is also receiving Oerlikon GDF-009 with Skyguard 3 re control radar from Rheinmetall under a long running contract until mid-2020.

Saab has supplied RBS-70 man-portable air defence systems to the force, whilst BOF is manufacturing/assembling FN-16 MANPADS with transfer of technology from China.

The addition of Turkish made air defence systems will vastly improve the air defence capabilities of the Army. There were plans to procure Russian Pechora 2M medium range air defence systems. Both were nally declined due to age of the system and issues relating to support and incompatibility with the modern NATO orientated air defence network the Bangladesh Army is putting in place.

The system is not ready and Bangladesh army choose it? something interesting indeed.

Or they've been invited to some test runs and are that only a few test remains before it's ready to be mass produced.

SSB Ismail Demir:

The second S-400 system (fleet) will be put into operation after 2020 due to the continued discussion of joint production issues with Russia.

Turkey needs more than 4 long-range SAM fleets.

We'll see SIPER in 2022.

The range of HISAR-A will be 15 km and the range of HISAR-O will be 20-30 km.

We bought each Harpoon for $ 1 million. The price of ATMACA is much lower than $ 500 thousands.

We have accelerated the construction of TCG Anatolia and will be put into service by the end of 2020. TCG Anadolu was 35% cheaper than its foreign counterparts. We can easily develop and use a wide variety of S / UAVs for TCG Anatolia.

TFX’s wind tests have been carried out.

TRMotor’s engine design work continues. We've begun to talking with Rolls Royce again, we are in closer to the deal, and if we do, we will include them in the system.

We prefer TFX project to be a multinational project like the F-35. That's why we recommend our plane to friendly and allied countries. Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Qatar, Malaysia and Indonesia show interest in 4-5 countries.

The figures devoted to the defense of Turkey as roughly $ 20 billion.

Artificial intelligence is used in the IHA project. We performed 20 UAV group test. When GPS is unavailable, it continues to work with image-based algorithms. There are very few systems in the world that work without GPS and RF connection.

We have unmanned system projects for land, water and underwater.

We launched an R&D study for air-independent propulsion system (AIP, HBT) for submarines.

We will soon be introducing a laser weapon system to the field.

At the point of delay of ALTAY tank, waiting period for export license from MTU (engine) and Renk (transmission) continues, no rejection yet.

150-200 hp and 450 hp engines for the land vehicles were tested.

The tests of Kale’s SOM's motor (KTJ-3200) has finished testing. It will be put into service in a year.

Akıncı UAV’s engine (AI-450T) will be produced in Turkey.

2019 exports will reach 3 billion dollars.

YET, Aselsan and SageTubitak are working on electromagnetic weapons. Both the electromagnetic gun and the laser gun will be evaluated both on ship and on land.

Indonesia

Sorry but Indonesia already have join kfx. If all on track we can get kfx in maybe 2023
Likely we just focus on one project already done long ago.

We just have joint program for tank from turkish the kaplan all test has passed and now in production.

Pentagon finally kicks Turkey out of F-35 program. Ankara will lose almost $9 billion dollars work order from the F-35 program.
Turkish should have done some accounting before buying S-400.

$9 billion until 2040 , its not so big money

S400 will kick enemies in the Eastern Mediterranean to protect Turkish EEZ ( oil-gas reserves )

Yes, anyway we should have paid alot to gain a few back just for some stuff which wouldnt be even ours and which we wont be making use of when we needed.
Should be greatest deal ever,we missed the chance, how bad.

Innovations that will enter the lives of the air force with the F-35: The combat readiness rate of all F-35 fighter jets will be automatically sent to the United States. Very comprehensive reports from the spare parts need of the aircraft to the level of maintenance, from the last time changes for each parts to flight time of each part. These information dumps are the most sensitive information for an any air force. Every air force implements a strict information security procedure in this area. ALIS means not just allow these infos to be shared among alliances, but transfers them directly to the US.

The ALIS system will transmit information about the parts that will change even if before the aircraft returns from mission. In other words, it will create significant changes in the logistics system of the countries. In short, countries will not be able to keep stock of spare parts, and the relevant parts will be prevented from being produced independently in the countries.

These are officially described extents. Logistics dependency and full control over the air forces' logistic chain. We are talking about an autonomous system, but the US will have control and authority.

Now let's look at the gray area:This autonomous and independent system from the user / operator, can also technically collect critical information about the mission profiles of the aircrafts. What I'm talking about includes the flight profile of the aircraft, the type of ammunition it carries, the active avionic parameters and the amount of fuel.

There is no guarantee that this information will not be shared with third parties in the event of an alliance dispute. The F-35 is a program that could become a national security issue for a country whose interests are in conflict with the United States. Thus, its not clear that this aircraft is not want to sell by USA or Turkey dont want to buy.

The actual problem(s400,f35 etc.) is arising in this context. Turkey wants to build a structure can not be controlled / restricted. Maybe it is main reason about diversify sources efforts in this direction after decades, while building a strong and vertically expertising national defense industry.

We should place some S400 on north Cyprus just as show

It is a simple math. How much will F-35 total cost? And how much will be Turkeys work order?
