Turkish constitutional referendum 2017 - News, Update & Discussion

But you have to understand that Meritocracy is not a way to GOvern a society/population... it's a Sys based on Corporations/business...
Meritocracy under a Gov sys is interesting and a must have... but it's not a way to gov...

So I am not against Meritocracy... but what I am against is your view of putting Meritocracy AGAINST Democracy/Dictatorship/etc... Like both of them could be equal in their core.

Democracy with Meritocracy as follow line - YES
But Meritocracy sys UPON Democracy sys -NO
Actually, a meritocracy is a form of government. It doesn't just apply to corporations; it also applies to actual governments. The govt of Dubai is de facto meritocratic. The ruler of Dubai has firms and committees whose sole job is to look for talented people for different government positions. He then gets a shortlist of the best names and chooses who gets the job. A democracy can indeed have elements of meritocracy, but meritocracy can also exist on its own. It's great if they complement each other of course, but it's not a prerequisite.

Just like with Brexit and the US election, the rural people screwed over the city-dwellers.

Looks like it is going to be a really close result... Damn it I can't wait them to count all votes.
I forgot to mention the Diaspora Turks who are voting in favour of AKP. They also play an important role together with religious Kurds who turned their back on PKK. Diaspora votes aren't counted yet.

Most voters from Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, the Gastarbeiters are going to vote for Erdogan. The majority of them come from Central and Eastern Turkey which are Erdogan's strongholds. The opposite results will come from the diaspora in the UK, USA, Australia or Canada where most Turks are Kemalist and secular.

ps @blondeturkish , dude, calm down...

so what if Yes win?

Does this mean there will be no PMship in future.. Or semi presidential like France?

.
Alhamdulillah for the Muslims of turkey. Its seems Yes side is winning as expected. A win is a win no matter what the margin. Erdogan and the proposed system is the best possible outcome for Muslims of turkey when given the choice. It would make sure in the future NO one can become president by sidelining Muslim turks and preventing public expression and profession of Islam . Candidates will have to appeal to Muslim turks to win. Insha'Allah the monopoly over power by kemalist and westernized liberal turks (white turks) in Turkey is over.

Right but look at their numbers. One German city has more Turkish voters than a couple of states together.
