In other words basically the Meko 200 is turned into a I-class frigate, this is just wonderful as the whole navy becomes more or less standardized which is extremely important for logistics. It will enable the ships to be network enabled but also because of common sensor suite logistically much easier to maintained -> lower maintenance costs and higher availability (not to mention independent to foreign embargoes / sanctions)

Not mentioned but expected is that Orca light torpedoes and TORK anti torpedo torpedoes will be added too
Aselsan MAR-D AESA radar points that HISAR A / O missiles will be added.

Well, political disagreements aside this is good development for Turkish industry if they can actually pull it off in a reasonable amount of time. Though I don't see Atmaca as a majo improvement much over Harpoon.

SOM would have been way better for obvious reasons. Self sufficiency means nothing with globalism, I can probably bet a million dollars at least some major components of Atmaca are not indigenous.

MEKO TrackIIA/B upgrade

Turkey is constructing brand-new domestic warships while upgrading existing fleet to extend operational capability under the network centric naval warfare called Advent CMS. In this aspect, The German MEKO Track IIA/B frigates will be converted into the level of I class frigates. 16 cell VLS, 16 Atmaca SSM, Genesis Advent CMS, Smart-S + MAR-D + AKR-D radars, Gökdeniz CIWS, Fersah SONAR, Hizir torpedo defense system, Ares-2 family ES and electronic attack ststem...etc

I think Second ship of I class family will receive domestic vertical launch system called MDAS. MDAS will host Hisar-A/O/N and Siper air defense missile system and Gezgin Land attack long range cruise missile.

MDAS will be the standart VLS on 7000ton TF-2000 destroyers as It is seen on image. Tf-2000 will launch not only national Siper long range surface to air missiles but also Gezgin VLCM (Tomahawk equivalent) check the image on VLS “Seyir Füzesi” (Cruise missile).

Yes thats why they give you downgraded and overpriced equipment, you people deserve to be humilated. Egypt fly with Aim7 sparrow missiles, Ksa F15 downgraded then ther buddies Israel. O Egypt buys Frem frigatte with out EW suite and VLS. And the list goes on, thats whats happen when you can not come and produce something.

In the end Amtaca is a missile with out any strings attached, range is not downgraded, no fear for ambargo and most important not overpriced. Like i wrote you people should humilated and nobody should care about. Let the global world shit on you.

Turkey bought HARPOON for $1 million from the US
on the other hand Turkey produce ATMACA for less than $500.000

Also 220+km ATMACA is far superior to 140km HARPOON

Also Turkey to develop land based variant of ATMACA with RF/IIR seekers for land attack and anti ship capabilities

Atmaca is in the last generation, it was stupid for Turkey to develop it when pretty much all CIWS and air defense system know its signature(very similar to Exocet and Harpoon). SOM would have been stealthier, and harder to detect and most likely be able to penetrate air defenses of Greek ships.

Turkey has been working for 40+ years on its defense industry and is in NATO so had the benefit of TOT up until recently. KSA, UAE, and Egypt are working on their defense industries slowly, but should become much bigger in the future.

It is, there is surface launched variant from MK41 VLS.
