1-) Let's not forget that PKK operated (still operating) in the KRG area. Peshmergas did nothing to stop them. They even allow PKK bases in their areas.
2-) Our relationship with Iraqi government start to fall apart after our oil deal will KRG, which enabled KRG to undermine central governments authority.
1.) Barzani handed over several PKK terrorists to Turkey in the past. He blocked the pan-Kurdish parliament. Barzani criticized again and again PKK which is still very anti-KDP. For instance, Puk is working with the Iraqi government but still they are more hateful towards Turkey than Barzani's KDP. In Suleymaniye PKK is maintaining a base. The city is under the control of PUK. The citizens of Suleymaniye are generally known for their sympathies to PKK whereas the population of Erbil is more critical to PKK. All in all, Peshmergas were to weak to stop the PKK from using Northern Iraq as a base. Btw, we have two Peshmerga units. One is loyal to KDP and the other one is serving PUK.
I beg to differ. Trusting the central government would be as wrong as cooperating with Barzani from this point of time onwards.
2.) No. Maliki was simply a moron. No one trusted him. The government under Maliki was simply anti Turkish because at that time Iran was in opposition to Turkey at all fronts.
This is why I'm warning our Turkish community. As long as the Iraqi Shia-led government hasn't proved its independence from Iran, we must maintain healthy relations with everyone in Iraq, even Barzani. Thé moment the Turkopersian relationship is going down, you will hear much more critical tones coming from Bağdat regarding Turkey.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
We shouldn't make the same mistakes over and over again. Being pro Bağdat doesn't mean we have to cut our working ties with Northern Iraq. Please be more rational. At this time, we need a very balanced and very intelligent Iraq policy. We could win big if we proceed wisely.
