Turkey's domestic low-altitude missile defense system completes test

Turkey's domestically produced low altitude defense missile system (Hisar-A, 15 km) has successfully completed its final test and will soon go under mass production, a defense official said Saturday.

Defense Industry President Ismail Demir announced that the mass production of the project will start soon.

"Hisar-A low-altitude air defense missile system domestically developed by ASELSAN and ROKETSAN has successfully destroyed the target with 100% accuracy in the final tests," Demir said on Twitter.

Demir's statement comes as Spain is threatening to withdraw Patriot missiles from Turkey over the country's ongoing anti-terror operation in northern Syria.

In the face of growing security threats engulfing its region, Turkey had to rely on Patriot batteries provided by its NATO allies Germany and the Netherlands, which were withdrawn in 2015, and later Spanish batteries took their place at the İncirlik Air Base in Adana.


Hisar air defense missile system was developed by ASELSAN and ROKETSAN under the coordination of the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM).

The Hisar-A and Hisar-O are expected to be in service by 2020 and 2021, respectively.

HISAR missiles are defense weapons developed to protect military bases, ports, facilities, and troops against air-based threats as well as to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces for a low- and medium-altitude air defense security system.

In this context, Hisar's radar, command and control, and fire control systems were developed by Aselsan, while Roketsan was responsible for the development of the missile system.

No more Cruise Missiles such as SCALP-EG , TOMAHAWK , MdCN will be threat to Turkey because of HISAR-A Air Defense System is ready for mass production

and S-400 Air Defense System can turn hostile Fighter Jets into crap of metal

What about the speed? These missiles fly with a avarage speed of mach 1...

To this end, in 2016, the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) launched the Indigenous Long-Range Air Defence System (GUMS/HİSAR-U) Project later named as SİPER. The contract regarding the SİPER Project was signed by an Aselsan, Roketsan and TÜBİTAK SAGE Partnership on January 15, 2018 and within the scope of the Project, being executed with national facilities, Aselsan is responsible for the development of the Long-Range Search Radar, Multi-Functional Fire Control Radar and Radar (RF) Seeker. The system design specifications of the Project were completed in 2018 and the activities on System and Sub-System Design are being executed. With a range over 100km, the SİPER Missile is planned to function against only air breathing targets in the first stage, but Anti-Ballistic Missile capability is expected to be gained during the second stage. The first delivery as part of the Project is aimed to be conducted at the end of 2021.

So hisar u is siper?

Is it me or it is under an angle what would mean we have not achieved vertical launching capability. Any one on the subject with more info?

Yes my friend. Different from Siper, There is another ongoing “long altitude long range” program which is said to be better than S-400. Up to 30km altitude and 120km range, Siper will be on charge but New program will have capability to engage the targets beyond 30km altitudes. Most probably, It will have exoathmospheric engagement capability with Aselsan made 4 axis divert and attitude control mechanism and hybrid seeker head (Rf+IIR)

Which parts of it "will" be better than S400, Russians have always been good at making rockets, so I'm very interested in knowing how we're going to do better.
