Ottoman empire had freedom of religion, every region/religion had it's own leaders.

I don't think an islamic turkish empire is good. What about christians, jews and atheists?

We need to respect everyone those times are over, we need a democratic empire like the US.

In the Ottoman Caliphate all Muslim citizens irrespective of ethnicity were officially termed Muslims. The protected minorities had their own individual identity. The Caliph was the Caliph of all. In fact though under the Christian British, the SA Muslims regarded the Ottoman ruler as their spiritual head or the Caliph. The Friday khutba was offered in his name.

How can the Othuman Empire return when there is no ancestor of them involved?

There may be a resurgence of Turkish dominance or expansion perhaps to secure energy resources, but not in 2023. Perhaps later around 2040 we can see a Turkish "Empire" start again with it expanding back into the middle east for energy resources.

The world is going through another historical "cycle". New and old empires will rise and fall.

It won't be an Ottoman Empire. It will only be a strong Turkey with greater influence. So no problem with the lineage of the leadership. It will only depend on how strong the opposition when this will have happened.

What i never understood is why most/all Turks say that they are "Ottoman".
Most parts of Turkey were under different Turkish beylicks who got conquered by the Ottomans.

The Ottomans never tried to make a national ethnic identification which is requiered to make a nation state.
While the Ottoman Empire was ethnically Turkish the Emperors never thought of their ethnicy in the first place but more about their religion.

The first four Caliphs were all based on popular support and almost "understood" succession after the prophet. Right after the fourth the whole system had already descended into nepotism. Its more likely that the name Osman wasnt his real name but more a mistranslation.
His name was more likely to be Ataman.
This is supported by the fact that his father,brothers and sons had Turkic names.

I can't help but think what is going on around Turkey now has to do with the treaty of lousanne which expires in 2023, it will give Turkey legal right to take oil fields in north Iraq and some parts of North Syria and Thrace in Greece.
