Turkey's Erdogan says Hagia Sophia becomes mosque after court ruling

.
I must say it is a strong move by Erdogan. Congrats to Turkish people. It is a clear sign Turkey is moving away from Western camp.

Interesting coming from a Russian perspective nevertheless Moscow did say it was a "internal matter" politically this is a dispute between the Greeks and Turks one thing for sure anything anti western Turkey does benefits Russia at end of the day

Its Evening prayer just hours ago, people in the courtyard of the Ayasofya.

Since the police are restricted the area with barricades, people pray in the mosque courtyard and in a narrow space. The president himself asked for people to be patient until July 24, but apparently this call was not taken into consideration by crowd.

If Christians can turn Cordova mosque to a cathedral then muslims can also turn Hagia Sophia into a mosque.
I am not 100% sure, but I think it is haram for us to convert churches and synagogues into mosques, as we are thought to respect Christians and Jews.

Trying to mislead people about a subject you do not really know is a kind of fitnah and haram. Are you considering? no

Start here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conve...s_of_worship_into_mosques#Qur'anic_holy_sites and read some. You don't have to write your opinion on everything.

I just read it, and I can confirm based on your link, this was a bad move.

This is from your link:

Upon the capture of Jerusalem, it is commonly reported that Umar, the Commander of the Faithful, refused to pray in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre[5] for fear that later Muslims would then convert it into a mosque

Here you have a Sahaba refusing to pray in a church only because he feared Muslims would convert the church into a mosque. So if converting Christian and Jewish holy places is permitted, why would a Sahaba go as far as refuse to pray there to make sure it doesnt get converted?

It is a wrong move. Akp does this to please it backward supporters. I think this won't stop Erdoğan's downfall. After we kick him out we will make it a museum again.

I'm not convinced at all that erdogan did this "for votes". He likes to use leverage against his enemies. He likes to engage in brinkmanship and demonstrate to NATO that Ankara is not in a mood to be pushed around. I honestly think he's done this to piss off NATO more than for votes at home. However in reality, it is probably nothing more than trolling and NATO and Turkey both know the real battle is taking place in Libya.

The holy fire church was the property of the dedicated christian parish, the "right of conquest" is controversial. The situation in Jerusalem, most of Camis historically connected with other divine religions. as link says, "Mosques were regularly established on the places of Jewish or Christian sanctuaries associated with Koranic personalities who were also mentioned in the Bible." Do not extract anecdote with tweezers, historical examples show that your claim is not correct. Religiously, there is no general and common view to prove the otherwise.

why double standers on babri mosque then sir ? now you forget babri mosque and modi fascism because now its our religion is doing the same what modi did to babri mosque ?
Babri mosque was functional and in use. The rampage against it included acts of massacre of civilians by saffron terrorists. The legal battle to reinstall a temple there made a mockery of modern legal practice by having Lord Ram appear as a plaintiff.

How does this civilised recategorisation of hagia sofia even compare?
