ISTANBUL (Reuters) - The Turkish lira slid 7 percent against the dollar on Friday as investors worried about a U.S warning that Turkey should expect more economic sanctions unless it hands over detained American pastor Andrew Brunson.

The lira weakened as far as 6.2499 as Turkey prepared for a week-long public holiday beginning at midday on Monday. Losses against the dollar this year widened to 39 percent as the U.S. row fueled losses driven by concerns over President Tayyip Erdogan's influence over monetary policy.

It seems the $15 bn isn't enough to bring everything back to normal

Turkey weathered it after Cyprus Peace Operation, so nothing including the location of the ''Pastor'' changes today, except for the border of Cyprus and the defence industry of Turkey once and for all ,since then.

Our cows are only about to be sacrificed for solely the mercy of Allah.

It seems more sanctions will be imposed on Turkey

.
US displaying its strong financial muscles and the rest of the world has no answer to it. Something which make a dent is if oil economies stop using USD for the price of their oil.
They need to switch to rmb.

. .
Not the first time, the sanctions following Cyprus operation were the initial flame for indigenous defense industry, before that Turkey was completely dependant on US arms.

(English)

The new sanctions hopefully strenghten the efforts for nationalization of arms industry even more.

The Circle of Life all over again...
Re-Watching it with closed eyes... And you almost think it's a recent Interview...

Except Ecevit was way better in handling the situation with real action instead of emotional outbursts like Erdogan.

That's is the Future to answer.
I believe every "Period" need to be answered differently, even though the situation is similar.

At that Time, The US "could" understand a certain type of "Speech/Action", something that isn't true nowadays.
Whatever it seems "right" or "wrong", it doesn't mean it's not "working".

Ofc, Today Decisions of Erdogan could end up as disaster... it's possible...But only Time will tell...
