Turkey's ASELSAN signs $25M contract with Pakistan

It's just rumors. No solid proof of jf-17 striking ttp ground targets especially using ASELPOD's. It would make my day if i found some solid proof tho.
Rumours, I doubt PAF spreads rumours to international magazines about using JF for combat missions against TTP.

. .
Let's face it. We only have one real ally/friend/dost in the Islamic World and that's Pakistan. Neither Arabs nor any other predominantly Muslim group would rush to help us like the Pakistanis would do. After Turkey shot down the Russian plane, there were already groups in Pakistan planing and debating about how quickly they can reach to Turkey in case of war.

I hope that we Turks regardless of our political party affiliation are aware of this precious bond.
Pakistan supports Turkey under all circumstances.

This deal simply means that JF17 III is on the horizon.

. .
Presumably 32 will be in total out of which two are simulators for training. I wonder when is next PAF song coming as our beloved Air Force doesn't show new gadgets unless their is an occasion.

Laser range finder and designator on Aselpod is claimed to have a range of 30km.

my bet is that these Pods are for block-2 to train them for Ground Operations in FATA .. wouldn't it be better to include such pods internally in block 3 ?

Coming few months Mushak will adopt COIN role along Pak-Afghan border area. It's fast , don't need proper runway and lightly armed.

Hi,

When Paf designed that aircraft---it was not thinking straight---. It did not think of the future EW packages that would be available for the aircraft a few years down the road---.

It even screwed up so bad---that it did not have a place to put IRST on the aircraft---even though the aircraft in parallel---the J10 already had it.

The paf ended up building this aircraft 2 sizes too small---. This aircraft if it was the size of the Japanese F2---would have had the space to install the pods internally---.

Now---paf has to have another aircraft larger than the JF17 to fill in the hole.

Fast?:omghaha:

But 2 out of 3 isn't bad.

Yes good move. Also dead cheap to operate compared to other platforms.

Hi,

The problem is---that there is only so much space available on the JF17.

Is the size of the JF 17 such that it makes it difficult to detect by the radar from a distance---and is that the reason to keep it small!!!!

The only 'juggar' that is possible would be on a similar line to that of the Grippen NG---.

The current design of the JF 17 has its own merits and operational utility---so that cannot be overlooked.

Basically---all designs have compromises when you are on a very tight budget---and the JF 17 is not immune to it---. But overall---the aircraft is worth its price---.

Outside mounted IRST and sensor pods are fine for the arena it is designated to operate in.

Disagree,

The idea existed, but our issue was the main manufacturer we worked with. We were deliberately misled and in some cases held back when it came to us wanting to choose other than a particular nations equipment.

It would be exaggerating to call them hostile to the idea of other than their equipment, but they were less than the usual cooperative in that regard.

We have to stop linking the JF to a larger aircraft, and consider the actual needs for a strike fighter which the PAF lacks as such.

Intersting thoughts. The choice of words withput any minceing of words would get you a few more enemies. When I asked one of our ex Navy friends about a change in direction with regards to naval platforms he was noncommital. You on the other hand have put it on the line. Thank you.
