The defense establishment decided not to develop a Merkava tank 5 and at this point Merkava 4 tank will last be produced.

Yisrael was revealed a year ago Defense, "Defense Ministry has decided to set up a team headed by Brigadier General (Ret) Didi son of Joash be responsible for planning the future of the IDF tank. In this context also the defense industry executives were asked to express their opinion, together with the Ground Forces, how the tank should look to the future.

Now, however, learned that as part of the upcoming multi-annual plan decided to examine possible alternatives but did not develop the advanced tank. Meanwhile Merkava 4 tank will be the most advanced model in use by the IDF

I totally agree with u- we have to invest more in our airdefence- but air defence is a completly different section in armed forces. This is for our landforces

What u guys want is completly destroying our whole EQ and replacing it with Altay- that is stupid.

And here why it might a be a good solution.

Also israelis still have their 60-70s tanks in their army and are modernizing them because it makes sense https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_equipment_of_Israel#Vehicles
Totally agree with you+with what you wrote in the quote,of course if you have the number of altay tank your army need ready to use now you won't needed any tank upgrades.
Just one fix,the oldest tank in idf is merkava mk2 (for reserve only).

Israel has just apologised official.
Not only Israel supports PKK though I have never heard about any direct supports.

Producing new OEM and kits for old tanks must be not cheap . Israel has spare parts, kits and experience for old M60s .
It is the most cost effective and smartest way to deal with Israel.
We can upgrade Leo's we have spare parts we know how upgrade Leo's .
But m60 s are old tanks it doesn't worth spending time to research for old tanks.
