Turkey to join BRIC countries soon, former UK PM says

@ Zaki

Turkey is much poorer than Belgium. Maybe we should first define the term "developed".

2009 GDP per Capita by country (nominal)

Turkey 8,711
Russia 8,681
Mexico 8,134
Brazil 8,220
China 3,735
India 1,032

.
2009 - GDP per Capita (PPP)

Russia 14,913
Mexico 13,609
Turkey 12,466
Brazil 10,499
China 6,778
India 3,015

That will be good for Indo-Turkey ties, Erdogon do you have any idea about expectations and aspirations of Turkey in joining BRIC.

And i have one very very stupid question to ask... :(
Turkey comes in Asia or Europe? I always get differing answers to this. I know Turkey is not part of EU but does it form the part of Europe or Asia or is it like Russia

I have no idea about "BRIC", but Turkey wants to become the 10th biggest economy in the world by 2023. I don't think it's possible, maybe 12th or 13th is achievable. Turkey will eventually overtake other major economies though, such as Italy, Canada, Spain and others.

Turkey is in both continents (Europe and Asia), the biggest part in west Asia/the Middle East. I don't think that this matters today.

Yes thats what i thought that apart from military Turkey is far far ahead then us in terms of economy and per capita. The figures may be high for us but the quality of life is much better for Turkey.

So what will this bring in store for Turkey?

They already have an access to the best of Western technology.

This initiative will give them a hand to Russian technology too ;)

Oh ok. And my second question ;) I always get confusing answers for it

Xcuse me!
Turkey isn't considered developed.
Its per capita though pretty higher than China and India is still very less to be considered as developed.
I think people should check out the data first!!

BRICT!?

Lol, Welcome to the club guys. Although it seems that Turkey is more developed than any of the BRIC nations.

Full support to have Turkey

Bro you are setting wrong parameters to define Developed or under-developed nations. Both countries are classified as developed first of all.

Although the GDP per capita is much higher in Belgium (36,000 dollars) comparing to Turkey's (15,000 dollars) but you have to see it in broader sense. Turkey has an economy of 1.119 Trillion dollars vs Belgium's 381.4 billion dollars. Belgium is a small country comparing to Turkey with less population and resources.

Turkey has better infrastructure and technology comparing to Belgium. The problem lies in the visible difference of disparity in Turkey... which is not the case for Belgium. Some peoples are extremely rich while others you find quite poor in Turkey

PS: How would you compare mighty China vs Singapore? Overall Singapore has much better infrastructure, far higher gdp per capita and quality life style. But does that qualify for her to be called more powerful nation than China?

wherever I have read so far... It is classified as developed nation :agree:

GDP per capita is not the only parameter to distinguish the developed nations. Her infrastructure is far better than Belgium, Ireland, Scotland, Greece, Bulgaria, Hungary and Poland etc

Spain is very close to Turkey (with slight edge) when it comes to infrastructure...

Turkey is better than all of them in military
