Turkey to join BRIC countries soon, former UK PM says

Well about the geography issue.

Turkey is a Eurasian country that stretches across the Anatolian peninsula in western Asia and Thrace in the Balkan region of southeastern Europe.

As you can see its pretty much in between the two continents. But the physical and facial characteristics of turks remind pretty much of europeans, this is my opnion though.

Nopes she is a actress still in her infancy. Hardly did 2 3 regional movies not the bollywood ones. She aint so famous yet not even Indians know her as of now.

Can we talk about some free defence deals from Turkey now

As i said we have lot to offer to one another :P

MEERA CHOPRA !!!!!:smitten::kiss3::man_in_love::man_in_love:

. . .
Xcuse me!
Turkey isn't considered developed.
Its per capita though pretty higher than China and India is still very less to be considered as developed.
I think people should check out the data first!!

The CIA factsbook considers Turkey a developed nation.

There is no bound of Geographical issues

India >>> China >>> Russia might be sharing a boundary but what about Brazil? its thousands of miles away from India

Turkey will be far more convenient when you are to trade between Turkey or Brazil.

PS: There will be a train running from Pakistan to Turkey very soon. If this happens... this train might be linked with India or China too

Ok i will not say this but i was also thinking of the same that we will be able to get access to this with the help of Turkey in return for the 1 billion people market which we can offer them.... :D

.
wherever I have read so far... It is classified as developed nation :agree:

It is only classified as such because it belongs to the "western camp" (NATO and similar organizations). Bro, Turkey's infrastructure is improving fast but we are still far behind countries such as Spain. I don't know where you got the idea that Turkey's infrastructure is better than the infrastructure in EU countries (Spain, Belgium, Ireland) because that's not the case.

Erdogan are you sure about that claim?

I'm not certain but i think at least Turkey's infrastructure is better than most European and all the Balkan countries including Greece. And a gdp per capita at around 15k $ qualifies as developed. At least according to numerous sources.

Let me illustrate one part of the infrastructure.
Fast train by total country km (including under construction):
1 China: 10025
2 Spain: 3744
3 Japan: 2496
4 France: 2106
5 Germany: 1410
6 Italy: 923
7 Turkey: 745
High speed lines in the world - UIC - International Union of Railways

Turkey has 425,300 km roadways which is the 12. best in the world

I think this is pretty promising. But there are also other forms of infrastructure, naturally.

Because I live in Europe and travelled to many European countries for number of times

Haven't seen Turkey yet but by its pictures and comparative articles one can clearly stand Turkey among the leading nations of the world let alone Europe.

Thank You, yes thats one of the many factors involved to define the parameters of Infrastructure

PS: I was deluded by the infrastructure of Paris... But seriously I was below my expectations :agree:

True, it had amazing places to visit and you can easily call it world's best. But trains were too old and too dirty, the roads were not as clean as I was hoping for them to be... Not so many industries i saw there that i was expecting to see

You are degrading turkey probably because you haven't seen many of the EU countries yet

Interesting numbers but I think we should take into account the population in various countries.

Let's say country A has 7 million people and country B has 70 million. Even if country B has 10 times more highways than country A, it still doesn't mean that country B has a better infrastructure than country A.

Secondly, what about the quality of the infrastructure and maintenance?

Thirdly, even roads near small towns and villages are of a very high standard in EU countries, but I don't see this in Turkey?

Bro there is one famous saying in Urdu language "Ghar ki murghi daal barabar" meaning "Hen of home is equivalent to pulse."

You live in Turkey so you don't like its infrastructure just like I used to curse England when I had not seen any other European country couple of years back.

Believe me, Turkey is far ahead than what you are expecting her to be. I know many peoples who have visited Turkey and other European countries and they prefer travelling Turkey before other EU countries.

Of course not every area is clean or well planned but Turkey has better infrastructure & Technology than many other EU countries. You cannot say its UK, France, Germany or Italy but it will mostly be ranked within top 10 in Europe when you compare nations in different categories

.
Look at this: Infrastructure (most recent) by country

Infrastructure statistics - countries compared - NationMaster

Turkey is ranked at 29th by infrastructure in the world or 19th in Europe i think. Well above "Mexico" that you were mentioning... also above Russia, South Africa, India, Poland, Hungary and few other European countries.

I think it deserves within top 15 - 20 in the World or within Top 10 in Europe if you only count the infrastructure of Istanbul and Ankara (compare city-wise)

PS: Turkey has the best infrastructure among BRIC nations (if she is included).... and this thread is about BRIC

.
Not sure if Turkey's interest coincide with BRIC countries. Turkey I think is considered as developed country whereas BRIC who are all developing.

have you been to turkey do u know anything about turkey please dont troll if you dont know anything about turkey at all, since when is turkey considered as developed country? if turkey is a develped country the recent israel offers of $90000 for the nine victims killed by the israeli is a appropriate compensation to a developed country?

Relax buddy,

Turkey attracted 25.5 million tourists in 2009 making her 7th most favourite destination for tourism in the world

http://www.unwto.org/facts/eng/pdf/barometer/UNWTO_Barom10_update_april_en_excerpt.pdf

Turkey has one of the best defence forces in the world
Turkey has one of the best infrastructure in the world
Turkey is 16th largest economy of the world
so on

According to the World Bank these is how they classify a developed nation

Income group: Economies are divided according to 2009 GNI per capita, calculated using the World Bank Atlas method. The groups are: low income, $995 or less; lower middle income, $996 - $3,945; upper middle income, $3,946 - $12,195; and high income, $12,196 or more.

Turkey has a GDP per capita of about $15,000

for more details you can go to this link to know how world bank classify countries

How we Classify Countries | Data

Turkey fulfil all criteria to be called a developed nation although some sources says Turkey is upper-middle economy and not a fully developed nation yet
