Turkey switches from Iranian to Libyan oil

our oil is expensive because we are under sanctions, we need the money.

also I though turkey cut 10%..is it 20%

According to Turkish newspapers its 20% and btw Iran was just exporting 7% of its entire oil to Turkey, so the loss will easy to absorb, especially since China will buy anything it can get.

this is good, b/c it will force countries to stop relying on the yankee dollar.

I am really sorry our government succumbed to US pressure and decided to reduce oil imports.

We should help our Muslim brothers in stead of assisting others oppression to them.

In any case, Allah helps the oppressed ones and foils the plans of the oppressors as always. The Brent prices increased from $105 to $125 in three months. Iran can sell %15-20 less than before and still bring in the same revenue :)

Here's the thing. Turkey would be helping itself by buying IRanian oil.

Iran is ready to accept payments in currencies other than the US dollar. Guess what? If Turkey buys with lira than Iran would in return spend the money on Turkish goods. Transportation is also cheaper from Iran than Libya. It's win win. If anything, turkey has more to lose by cutting Iranian oil. At the end of the day Iran can find other customer for the 'black gold.'

I just think countries around the world crumble WAY TOO fast under US pressure. Most of the times the US doesn't even have to do anything. If Asian countries learned to say NO to the US, the whole continent would benefit. It's econ 101, every country's biggest trading partners are its neighbors. Now you have Pakistan and Turkey under pressure from the US to stop buying energy from Iran.

okay now it makes sense to me. Turkey needed to get an exemption from the US sanctions and the requirement for an exemption is to cut imports by at least 18 percent. So basically Turkey HAD to go with the cut.

In the end, Turkey will lose out a bit. Iran accepts Lira and then invests the money back in Turkey. Libya will require US dollars.

Who cares? Oil is an international commodity. It is a seller's market at 125 dollars a barrel. The black stuff is running out. Every one needs it.
Now Iran will sale oil to China at half price and in exchange to Chinese goods.

Well Libyans are your brothers too.

Actually, to the entire BRICS. We just had a meeting with the grouping a couple of days or so back with a bill that ratifies trading and easier conversion in each others' currencies. Russia alone has largest oil reserves in BRICS so this means the BICS would be importing a lot of oil. Iran technically has a big option here.

One man loss is another man benefit..truth of doing business!

Well Libyans are your brothers too.

we need halal oil! and it should be traded in accordance with the sharia law!!!1/40 of the oil (annual) revenue should be given as zekat to the members of ummah who are in need !!! and the price should be decided by the caliphate! or by the islamic scholars! the current free market system is a zionist means for the expolataion of the oppressed and marginalized people!

How did western oil get under Libyans sand? but good news is it is liberated and now will be sold to countries to recoup the cost of that war.

Well Iranian oil oh i mean Western oil is occupied by Iran and until it can be freed they rather it stays underground.

Good news is Egypt Tunisia Iraq and Libya have been freed west working on Iran and Syria with the help of western puppets in middle east you no the ones that speak for Sunnis Muslims Palestinians dont count.(oh by the way Muslims killed in these oil freedom wars don't count they only speak for the living ones and not the ones being killed )

As one can see west is liberating oil western oil occupying Muslim countries one at a time i wanna no who will be next for freedom?

USA has lots of carrots..now which carrot would USA pick to dangle in front of RIC ?

Turkey has no intention to curtail import of Iranian oil, gas

TEHERAN, April 14 (Itar-Tass) —— Turkey has no intention of curtailing contacts with Iran in the energy sector, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz is quoted by Iran’s English-language television channel Press-TV as saying.

Ankara will continue to import crude oil and natural gas from Iran in defiance of the Western sanctions against Teheran, Yildiz said.

Iran is one of the main providers of crude to Turkey, he said. Last year half of Turkey’s imported crude was Iranian. This year the parameter will be no lower than 40 percent.”

The Turkish minister said that a certain reduction of oil supplies from Teheran was in no way related with the Western countries’ sanctions against Teheran. He also dismissed the speculations Ankara had taken that step under pressures from the United States. He explained his country had begun to export oil from Libya, which was crucial to normalization in that country. Yildiz said the Turkish Petroleum Refineries Corporation had signed a contract to import one million tonnes of oil from Libya.
