Some Turkish and Russian media claim that Turkey is not longer interested of purchasing of russian Su-35 and Su-57 fighter jets, learned BulgarianMilitary.com
We recall that a few months ago, Turkey declared great interest in the Russian Su-35 and Su-57 combat aircraft, noting that they are superior to the American F-35s, as reported by Anadolu, however, today, due to the situation in Syria, Ankara has stopped negotiations on the purchase of Russian military aircraft.
According to Turkish media, at the moment Turkey has no interest in Russian aircraft, since it is still in the program of the American F-35 fighter jets. Nevertheless, given the lack of supplies from the United States, the reason, obviously, lies elsewhere – Ankara intends to put pressure on Russia by refusing to acquire Russian combat aircraft, since this is a deal of several billion dollars.
“If Turkey did not show any particular interest in the Russian Su-57, then the defense department has already announced its intention to buy a batch of 32 Su-35 fighters. Nevertheless, as soon as the Syrian army went on the offensive against pro-Turkish terrorists in Idlib, and Russia refused to put pressure on Damascus in any way, Turkey suddenly “hushed up” the negotiations without clarifying a single reason,” the expert notes, cited by Anadolu agency.
It should be noted that according to Turkish media, in January of this year, negotiations were to be held with the Turkish side to conclude a contract for the Su-35, however, the latter apparently did not take place.
