The areas in Izmir outside the hotel area did not impress me much. No good burger or pizza restaurant. Nobody speaks some italian or good english.

Yes, its also strange that they were so phlegmatic with new weapons. In Lepanto they send their best bow fighters. Italian sailors used guns and mowed the Turks down.
